I was blinded by the light as I opened my eyes. I didn't remember leaving my curtains open?

'Come on,' Charlotte yelled, releasing her grip on the curtain, causing it to fall off and onto the floor. 'Class is in 20 minutes and you're not even dressed!'

'Hey, what did that curtain ever do to you?' I joked, my voice cracking, since I had only just woken up.

'Just get up!' She snapped, yanking the duvet from my grasp.

Instinctively I wrapped my arms around myself with a yelp, before realising that I had pyjamas on. She strutted out, reminding me of the way Leyla did. The second I thought of Leyla, I remembered the fact that I had no job.

Well, it wasn't a very good job, especially since it was only at weekends, but it earned enough cash for me and if I didn't pay rent, Charlotte would probably kick me out!

Maybe if I don't tell her and get a new job before she finds-

'You lost your job!?' Charlotte screeched from in the kitchen.

How did she...?'How did you find out?' I asked, thinking aloud, as I crawled out of my cosy covers and onto the floor, curling into a ball, to keep any warmth from the bed that was still with me.

When I didn't get a reply, I rolled onto my back and stared up at the ceiling.

I had 20 minutes. And Lottie told me that at least 5 minutes ago.

I jumped to my feet and put my hands on hips, bending backwards, to stretch out, accidentally letting out a silent groan. I don't know why, but I always enjoyed stretching. It made me feel more awake than I was.

After I had finished waking myself up, I reached for my scrunched up and freshly ironed-when I say that, I mean that it was ironed about two days ago- blue tee shirt. I liked this shirt because no matter how much weight I put on and how much I grew, it always fit and it was quite a tight fit, so it disguised any... excessive meat. I admired the white parts on it, which were tye-dyed, making it look like blue waves - the kind that you see in the Caribbean ...white sands, bright blue ocean and the odd dollop of driftwood or seaweed and... I have 10 minutes.

I jumped into my 'unmentionables' before I pulled on some -also tight fitted- black trousers. They were made of cotton, so they were very comfortable, but they looked like jeans.

I had a long cardigan that I also loved and wore a lot, which had a hole in, but it was hardly noticeable. Jumping into the bathroom, I stuck a capful of mouthwash (after realising there was no time to brush) into my mouth and started to swill it round, scrubbing my teeth with my own tongue. Once I was done I swallowed and just as I was about to leave, I froze and gulped hard.

Did I really just swallow that? Oh well, it won't kill me.

I ran my fingers through my hair and put a tiny bit of powder on my face to hide the shine on it. Yes, yes, I knew that it was shiny because it needed washing, but I could do that later. I grabbed my dark blue, house keys and after a second of watching myself in the mirror, I scurried into the kitchen where Charlotte was eyeing me skeptically.

'Leyla just texted me and told me.' She mumbled, looking at her nails which were nicely done up with a French manicure.

'You have Leyla's number?' I asked, astounded.

'Yeah, why? She's one of my best friends,' she added, still staring at her nails, before finally looking at me again, showing that she did care the tiniest bit. 'Do you have a problem with that?'
