A eerie scream escaped the young man's dry lips as he plunged into the frigid, salty waters. The ocean's surface covered his face as he flung his arms towards the surface, trying to grab that spot of moonlight that shimmered and quavered with the tide. His eyes burned as the salt water brushed against them, and his skin grew numb as if a doctor injected several needles with anesthesia into his body. It was so dark, with only the dim light of the moon softly brightening the surface.
The young boy kept thrashing his arms in the water, trying to reach up to the surface as if he was climbing some invisible stairs to the top. But that...thing. It dragged him down and kept doing so. He gritted his teeth as he seemed to lose control of his numb, sore limbs. His heart rammed against his chest as he felt his hands tremble.
The long, knife-like talons sunk into his calves as he wailed underwater, and giant wobbly air bubbles escaped from his thin lips and ascended to the top. A searing pain struck his leg and began to spread rapidly around his body like a disease. His frigid ears ached with the rush of salt water, and all the boy could see was dark and red.
Get up, he urged himself. Get up, dammit! You're not gonna die like this! Not now!
Water had already entered his lungs, and they had already been begging for oxygen already. The young man's limbs were sore and motionless like a stuffed, flimsy doll floating the sea.
He was dead, he thought. Life ended here. There was no way out, and he will never know what or who caused his death. His head grew heavy as he saw a dark humanlike figure float above him, clasping both sides of his face with slimy palms. Who it was, the man had no idea, devil or angel. It's glowing, menacing eyes illuminated the pitch black sea, and it grew nearer to his face. It located its face at the crook of his neck, and the young man felt agonizing stabs at the side of his neck.
He felt nothing, weightless. He saw nothing.
He believed he was dead....He believed he was dead.
