Romeo Colmenares was listening from outside the room as Callie confessed to her crime.
"Yes," she said. "I'm David Castillo's daughter—"
Romeo barged in and grabbed Callie by her shirt collar.
"You killed my brother! You killed him?!"
Romeo was dragged out, and the confession continued as if that hadn't happened.
"I didn't mean to, I just wanted to protect mommy!"
"Why?" The detective said. "What did you want to get so bad?"
"The tapes," she said. "I thought mom was being incriminated and people would find out about me—"
"Because if people knew your mother had an affair, she would have motive to kill Mr. Victor Buenavidez," the detective assumed.
Callie began to break down.
"No, my mom's innocent. S-she's innocent!"
Callie got up and began messing everything up in the room. Throwing folders and knocking down the chairs while continuously chanting "my mom's innocent!"
Olivia, Emi, Matilda, and Olivia's lawyer all barged in and ended the moment. However, they weren't allowed to take Callie home due to her incriminating confession. Olivia took the big guns.
"No! You can't believe what she says!"
"Why is that, Mrs. Buenavidez?"
"Callie has schizophrenia! She can't distinguish reality from fantasy!"
The police didn't let her off the hook. However, they were kind enough to separate Callie from the other prisoners. Her bail was $500,000. It was too late at night to be paid, so she had to spend that one night behind bars. Olivia and Emi never left her side.
The next morning, Harry and Josie were talking together, planning to visit Callie. However, Emi drove passed them and blocked their way with her car.
"Josie, if you're here to interrogate Callie, please. Don't waste your time."
"Emi, Callie's my sister. I'm worried about her."
"She doesn't need to see you. In fact, she doesn't wanna see you, especially after the pain you put her through."
"Emi, I care about her—"
"Josie," Harry began. "Let's let them be for now. Uh, Emi? Can you tell Callie I said hi and take care?"
Emi didn't reply to him, not only because she was furious at Josie, but because he had the nerve to talk to her after ignoring her efforts.
Callie was finally released on bail, and Olivia strictly instructed her to stay at home and to not go anywhere. She sat blankly and quietly in her bedroom ever since. No movement. No food in her system. The only thing in her mind was hoping everything could finally end her family's suffering. Emi entered the room to check on her.
"Callie, you look tired. Get some rest. Take a nap."
"I can't rest Emi," she goes. "Not while knowing everything is going downhill."
"Callie," Emi began. "Nothing will happen to you. We promise. Mom, grandma, and I will protect you."
"That's What you guys keep saying, but it just doesn't seem to feel like it's gonna happen."
The next day at the university
Emi was getting out of her car. As soon as she got out, some of Callie's classmates approached her.
