Anthony Buenavidez killed Victor Buenavidez, out of envy and jealousy.
Anthony's body was found dead in a nearby creek. He had gunshots to the head, ruled as a suicide. He killed him self to make sure he wouldn't do time for the crime. Emi and Josie were asked to confirm the body, and it was true.
Emi and Josie began to talk about Anthony.
"I'm sure you've had good moments with him," Josie said.
"And you stomped all over it," Emi began. "Anthony chose you guys over us, his real family."
"He tried to reach out, but you guys pushed him away!" Josie said.
"Him and dad both chose you over us, the legal family. Don't preach to me as if you were perfect. You will never understand our pain. You will never understand what it's like to lose a father twice."
Emi, the legal nephew, was in charge of Anthony's body and funeral. She saw him as a second father, despite their differences. The truth about everything cane out somehow.
Anthony was cremated and the ashes were spread around. Too bad he never payed for his crime.
Callie was no longer an accused suspect, but she stayed at the hospital to treat her schizophrenia. Justine visits her everyday.
Josie and Emi finally graduated college:
Josie decided not to pursue a position in Victor's company, while Emi stood as the CEO. Harry was her fiancé. Raquel continued to serve as a board member.
David went back to prison, voluntarily, knowing Olivia wouldn't help him anyways.
Olivia and Matilda went on with their lives.
One day, at Victor's grave, Josie and Emi both happened to visit.
"Crazy, huh?" Josie asked. "Everything led to this."
"Dad's case finally closed." Emi added. "But we can't really live in peace, knowing the pain we all went through together."
It was hard for both of them because it was true.
"I'm leaving for California tomorrow," Josie said.
Emi wasn't so interested, but she asked anyways.
"I found a great job there," Josie said. "And it's not a rice mill company."
Emi simply nodded. As Josie walked to her car, Emi stopped her real quick.
"Take care, sis." Emi said.
Josie nodded with a smile. That was their last smile.
Them, and their individual families, never saw each other again.
