It was the day of Callie's trial. Unfortunately, Callie began to hear voices once more in the middle of her questioning. Her attorney was forced to reveal to the court that Callie was schizophrenic, and the trial was put on hold. Callie was scheduled to meet with the court psychiatrist to determine whether she's fit to stand trial or not. In the middle of the trial, they also mentioned Victor, which caused a breakdown.
The Buenavidez family stood outside the entire courtroom. Raquel and Josie came downstairs and looked at the Buenavidez family.
"Go ahead. Judge me. Now's your chance," Olivia said.
Rather than speaking, Raquel walked towards Olivia and gave her a hug. Too stressed with everything, Olivia didn't question her.
"I'm a mother too," Raquel said. "I won't judge you. You're not a bad mother, Olivia. And if you ever need someone to talk to, I'm always here."
Raquel was too kind.
On the way home, Emi was cold towards Olivia.
"Tell me the truth," Emi said. "Why did she freak out when dad was mentioned?"
"Emi, let's not do this—"
"Mom! I'm tired of everyone hiding the truth from me. Be honest, for once."
"Of course Callie would react when her father was mentioned—"
"My father, not hers!"
Olivia got frustrated.
"I'll ask her myself—"
"No!" Olivia shouted. "Fine! Fine! I'll tell you!"
Emi focused on her mom.
"Victor died because of me, not Callie!"
A tear had already shed.
"What the hell do you mean by that?"
Flashback to the days before Victor's death
Callie had heard Victor and Olivia talking about Callie being Olivia's illegitimate.
"Victor! Don't ask like such a saint when you're the first one between us to have an illegitimate child!"
"So you're getting even with me?"
"No!" Olivia shouted. "Mine was an accident while yours was a choice!"
Victor had planned to tell Callie and everyone else about it.
On the night of his birthday party, Callie had found a bottle of strychnine poison in the guest bathroom trash. Originally, Matilda was gonna poison Victor. However, she immediately threw the bottle after changing Her mind. The voices in Callie's head told her to poison Victor.
While the employees were getting the champagne ready, Callie entered the kitchen and quickly poured the bottle in Victor's glass. Her plan was to get Victor ill for the night so he wouldn't have to leave them. However, she had no idea it would kill him. The voices in her head controlled her, and there was nothing she could do no matter how hard she tried.
A few days after Victor's death
Olivia walked into Callie's room and accidentally knocked over a camera lens. She then heard a noise coming from inside the lens holder. When she opened it, the bottle of strychnine was there. She confronted Callie about it, who began to have a breakdown."He had a mistress, right? He was gonna leave us right? The damn voices in my head told me to do it! I did it for you, mom! He kept hurting you and he cheated on you! I wanted to protect you, ma!" She cried.
