Thomas's POV
It's my first day of high school. I know no one here, and the anxiety is too strong for me to handle and I feel faint - almost as if I could collapse in this very moment.
The hallway is empty. Not a soul wanders the abandoned space. It looks as if it would have been ditched so long ago, and no one has stepped one foot in here for at least 10 years. Silence reigns over the long, winding 'tunnel' as I take a few cautious steps forward, through the school's central double doors.
Lockers line the walls as well as randomly placed doors, with small windows leading into the classrooms. Light shines down into the hallway I stand in, in through the small windows, leaving the place very dimly lit.
Beginning to walk further, I pass my first classroom, the contents all turning to face me as if I'd just killed somebody. However, the second I passed the second class, I am grabbed by the hood of my jacket, and pulled through the door by a suspicious pair of hands.
I begin to struggle, and - in a pathetic attempt to elbow the person keeping me from moving - fell on my face as soon as the door was closed, and the person let go.
"What the bloody hell is your problem?" The unknown voice spoke in a strong, British accent. I lift myself up from the floor, my heart pounding faster than I ever remember it beating ever before. "Who.. who are you?" I ask, using my hands to shuffle myself backwards across the floor, far away from the figure until I press my back against a wooden desk.
"Oh don't act so scared, I'm not that hideous, am I?" He says sarcastically, pulling down his hood, revealing his pale face. He's.. well, gorgeous. Blonde hair, fairly tall, muscular, with a black hoodie and some ripped black jeans. He looked like some sort of goth.. but I could tell he wasn't one. Way too aware for that.
"Uh.. well no, I'm just wondering why you felt the need to basically kidnap me." I stare up at him through darkness, being able to see him quite clearly, yet, not much else in the room. "Well.. you cant just walk in like that! Looking like some kind of God.. who do you think you are? I mean Jesus Christ! You're just idiotic!"
"How? All I did is walk through the door! I don't know what's going on!" I utter in fear as the boy sighs. "Look, just know that I saved your ass, and you might wanna thank me. Besides that, the real reason I brought you in here is because.. you're different. I can see it in your eyes, you aren't normal, kid."
'Kid'. He looks about the same age as me, if not younger. I'm 16 - and he looks about the same, despite the odd childishness of his face. "..okay, what do you even mean by that? Did.. did I really look that out of place out there?" The boy fiddles with his watch before turning to look at me with disgust on his face. Rolling his eyes, he states, "Bloody hell, you really are an inquisitive bugger, ain't you?" He gives a half-assed laugh before setting one hand on a desk, leaning up against it.
"You're like us. Different. Not like anyone else here, you follow?" Suddenly, two more people stepped from the shadows as the lights finally flickered on, illuminating my vision. The first, a female: young looking, pale skin, dark hair, decently short with blue eyes and a skinny structure - not much muscle.
The second was a male: Asian, with a lot more muscle than anyone else in this room. He has short, dark hair with a mature nature about him, and a stern, somewhat angered expression on his face. I'm not sure whether to be scared or not anymore.. they don't look like the most threatening bunch of people, yet, judging by the introduction here I don't think you can really be certain at this school.
"We're.. I guess you could say.. the 'outcasts' here. You've made a bad choice, coming to this school. But it's fine, newbie, we'll shape you up. You'll survive.. maybe.' The Asian boy says to me, holding his hand out to help me up.
"You may as well know our names, then. I'm Teresa." The girl says anxiously, shaking my hand with high levels of caution. "Yeah. I'm Minho. And that guy over there? That's Newt." He points over to the boy I first saw, the same boy who practically took me as a hostage as I arrived in that doorway.
Newt looks over to me and catches my eye, sharing a moment of eye contact with me. Eventually, he turns his gaze back to his watch, returning to fiddle with it to avoid me.
His eyes - ah, his eyes.
