How They Met (Corey and Laney)

It was a rainy and very cold day in Peaceville. 5 year old Corey Riffin was strumming the precious guitar he had learned how to play recently when he heard a knock at the door.

"I GOT IT!!!" the little boy screamed. Corey enjoyed opening doors because it was always a new surprise for him. Corey ran to the door excitedly and swung it open. Before him was a little girl his age, her red hair looked blood red from all of the water from the storm. She looked up at him, her eyes pleading with help.

"Hello" Corey greeted her.

"Who's at the door Corey?" Mrs. Riffin asked before walking to the door and seeing the little girl. "Oh my" She said. "Hello little girl, please come inside" she instructed. She motioned Corey to go get a towel. When Corey got the towel, she wrapped it around the girl and took her into the garage with Corey.

"Thank you," The small girl squeaked.

"What's your name," Corey said eagerly. He wanted to meet this mystery girl, her hair was so bright and attracted Corey. Her green eyes were bright against her pale skin.

"Laney" the girl said. Corey thought it was a beautiful name for such a pretty girl.

"Nice to meet you Lanes," the blue haired boy said smiling. "I'm going to call you Lanes, it'll be like my nickname for you." The little girl nodded but didn't look up, his blue eyes made her feel butterflies and he gave her such a nickname her face was as red as her hair.

"What's your name?" Laney asked the eager boy.

"I'm Corey," He said standing on the coffee table proudly. "I play guitar and one day I'm going to be such a famous rock star that everyone will know me." He stood proudly with his chest out in the air. In his head he was imagining thousands of people screaming his name, but he saw a very familiar red head standing in the front row screaming his name louder then the rest. He then continued to play air guitar in front of the now giggling red-head.

"Is it ok if I call you Core?" It's only fair because you call me 'Lanes'. Asked Laney. This instantly made Corey feel butterflies in his stomach. He looked down to try to cover his blush but his orange beanie fell off of his small head onto the girl's. He looked at her wearing his beanie and he instantly knew he loved her. Just she was so nice and she was absolutely adorable.

"Come on I want to show you something," the boy said as he grabbed the girls small hand and ran up the wooden stage his dad had just recently built for him. "Wait right here." he said as he went behind the small stage and brought out a blue-ish/green bass that he was given. Corey could play both instruments but he never played bass because guitar was so much more interesting. He was a front man.

After a few minutes of showing Laney how to play the instrument, she could play like Corey. She had a natural talent for Bass and it made Corey love her even more.

"I want you to have it," Corey said giving her the bass.

"Oh I could never do that Core," She says handing it back to him." Truthfully, she wanted it more then anything, but she didn't want to take it from him.

After fighting back and fourth on Laney keeping the bass, she finally gave in. A few minutes later Miss Riffin walked into the garage with some apple slices and juice boxes.

"Your parents are on their way sweetie," Miss Riffin said sweetly.

"Thank you," Laney squeaked. "And my name is Laney" She told Miss Riffin.

"Lovely," She replied.

A few minutes later Laney's parents had arrived and just as the two were walking out of the room, Corey gave Laney a quick kiss on the cheek, making them both blush.

"You're my best friend Lanes," Corey said smiling and taking the beanie that was on her head off and putting it back on his.

"And you're mine," She said hugging her new bass.
