Heist Goes Wrong

While the others went up to the roof, Conan burst off into of the room on the 15th floor, looking around for a certain person before then snickering at his right deduction...

"Now, do you think I will let you slip of my grasp just like that, Phantom-san?" he said at moonlight thief in disguise.

KID grinned at the statement, but not yet revealing himself as he spoke, "Well, well~ if it isn't my greatest critics."

Slowly, the said phantom turned around with hand on his pocket. "So, how did you find me out?" KID asked smirking.

"It's not that hard, really. Afterall, you were slipping some clues enough for me to find. and not to mention, judging on how both Hattori and Hakuba was also present at this heist, you're pretty reckless and slow tonight. And If only I hadn't knew you better, I would say that you were nervous over something..." Conan narrowed his eyes...

And Kaito was thankful that the poker face he had been trained for all of his life doesn't crack under such intense gaze. Or else that sharp and calculating eyes might had caught him flinch at the statement. And he could almost guaranteed for the boy to found out about the problem he had if that actually happened. Something that he least wanted.

So instead, he spared another smirk to the shrunken boy.

"Hmp... how observant you are, my dear Meitantei-kun..." KID said as he rip off his disguise, revealing himself in all of his white glory.

"Barou... Like I said, it was pretty obvious to me. You were jumpy and all. And I'm pretty sure that Hakuba and Hattori noticed it too... especially when you bring a real gun for the very first time..." Conan said, narrowing his gaze slightly looking for any indication. yet he find none... KID's poker face doesn't flatter.

"Knowing how you works after over many heists, this is something new, and I can only conclude that something is different in tonights heist. Something dangerous... or even deadly dangerous..." Conan continued, suddenly turning serious.

KID chuckled, but it's lack of the usual humour inside it, "Well done~! you've seen right throught me~! my hands are clapping just for you Meitantei-kun~" he said.

"So, you're here to question me, Am I right?" asked KID, putting his hands back to his pockets.

"If possible, yes..."

"-Too bad, Edogawa-kun..." Conan noted the change of nickname and frowned even deeper.

"-But this is one matter that you should really avoid." that phantom said with mix of stern and sad tone, in which surprised the small detective.

"I really don't want you to die, my friend..." KID's voice was low, and if Conan hadn't learnt on reading someone's lips he might had missed it.

'but what he meant by that?' Conan questioned before then the whole building shook violently as some loud explosions could be heard.

"W-What?!" Conan exclaimed in alert while KID clicked his tongue.

"Shit, so they were serious about this..." Conan heard him mutter and thought, 'They? so it wasn't just one person? was it an organization of sort? Then was it the jewel or KID that they targetted?'

His thoughts, however, were cut short when he saw a red dot suddenly appeared and targeting the magician's heart.

"KID!!" Conan shouted as he mindlessly jumped forward to pushed him out of the way.

*PRANG*

one of the window had broke from the shot.

"M-Meitantei-kun... y-you..." KID looked be wielded as he saw what the little detective had done and the result of it.

"Get a grip KID... this isn't the time to get panicked." Conan said panting.

"But your shoulder!" KID exclaimed in horror at the sight of those mount of blood that oozing out of the wound.

Conan, however, just chuckled weakly over it. "D-Don't you worry over this... I'll be fine... but you need to get out of this place, quickly-"

"and leave you by yourself? No way!" KID protested.

"Yes way!" Conan argued and KID was startled by it, before then his gaze softened. "There's snippers out there and they wanted you dead, so you can't use your hang glider. But you can always sneaked out even with a little of disguise, right Phantom-san?"

"Why?" KID asked lowly. Why he have to go this far?

"Well, aside from returning the favor, I found your heists enjoyable, and it'll be boring without all of your pranks..." Conan replied with a wide grin.

"And also, You can't run freely while carrying injured people, right? Don't worry, Hattori will come here soon, I had called him..." Conan said, pointing at his detective badge, "so, what are you waiting for, KID? hurry up and blend throught the night..." Conan said, smiling geuniely while KID on the other hand, pursued his lips despite the truth he just heard.

These people are targetting him solely -or so he hoped-, and if he really brought the little detective with him, then he'll be targeted to.

No. He already felt guilty from this, no need for him actually mourn over his rival's funeral-

KID hurriedly shook his head from the thought.

"Are you sure?" he asked again.

"Yes... now go..." Conan said firmly.

And then, after making sure that no one would hurt Conan once he left, with heavy heart KID  left his gun before then leaving the room swiftly. Whispering something to Conan before he did so.

The shrunken detective smiled fondly at the retreating figure...

'Don't die... I'll check on you.' KID's words echoed

"Barou... I won't let my self got killed before I achieve my goal..." he said to himself as he tried to carefully get out of the room without being caught by the snipper or get stumbled over.

Because he'd lied.

He hadn't called for Heiji, because the Osakan didn't bring any badge with him and his phone busted just the other day.

And just to make it perfect, there's no one when he set his wobbly feet out of the room.

'Kuso... Everyone must have left to evacuate.' As usual, his luck sucks...

'This is bad...' He thought again as he felt his sight swarmed over that empty hall...

Conan could feel himself slipping away as he slowly giving up to the pain.

he don't know who was it, but he could faintly hear someone called his name before he finally blacked out.
