*The day after*

"I must speak with Dr. Kenny about the potion this afternoon, I hope you don't mind being home alone until night my dear." My mom spoke. She dipped her long skinny fingers in the hair gel, brushing the stray hairs on my head back into two Dutch braids, resting perfectly on the back of my dress. "No, not at all" I whispered.
I may have seemed like I was paying attention to her, but my mind was elsewhere. Him. I thought, my mind was racing, I couldn't get his face out of my mind, and his scent oh his scent. Wood, pine, and cinnamin my new favorite smell, his face, my new favorite sight. Although it was dark, I could still see his worried eyes through the thickness of the fog.
They were blue, a deep blue. But I sighed, knowing that I'd never be able to look into those eyes again. That could risk the annihilation of the whole vampire species, after all, the boy is a werewolf.
"What's wrong my dear?" My mother asked. Craning her long neck around so that she was facing me. "Nothing", I said.
She finished up my hair, and grabbed ahold of my brother Peter and went off to Dr. Kenny's laboratory. And I was left, alone, sitting, on the dark hard wood floor of our dining room, thinking about him.

I haven't told Michael about the girl, or Feldman, River, or Will, no one. She was my little secret. Besides, the girl is a vampire.
She probably hates me, our kinds don't mix, but I can't part with my thoughts of her. I memorized her scent, and the way she looked like a poem.
I bit my lip, she was driving me mentally and physically insane. Well, that's a little dramatized, but still. "Yo, Haim!" I looked up, locking eyes with River.
"What?" I laced up the rest of my cleats before digging them into the sand of the dug out.
"You don't seem like yourself, are you okay?" He was eating on a piece of big league chew. I huffed, ignoring his question, and pushed past him.
