Kevin was going a little insane, he thought Crowley was in his head, so he stayed in the closet. Then he disappeared. We did the second trial, where we sent Bobby to Heaven; him being in Hell surprised all of us, but it was Crowley's fault. Sam was also getting a lot worse. We went on a hunt with Charlie, where she almost was killed by a djinn, and alot more while we were trying to find him. Then we got a message from him. Dean opened the email. Kevin popped up, he looked like crap.
"Sam, Dean, Skyler. I've set up this message with some software and a remote server so it'd send itself to you if I didn't reset it with a command once a week, which means I didn't reset it this week. And there's only one reason I wouldn't, which means if you're watching this then I-- Then I'm-- I'm dead."
"No, no!" I said, tears filling my eyes.
"I'M DEAD, YOU BASTARDS, SO SCREW YOU, SCREW GOD, AND EVERYONE IN BETWEEN!" Kevin yelled in anger. "Crowley must have gotten to me, and the one thing I know is that I won't break this time. I'm not sure how I know but-- but I do. I've been uploading all my notes and translations. I'm sending you the links so you can get all of it. You guys are gonna have to try to figure out the rest." Kevin looked like he was about to cry. "I'm sorry. I know it was my job, but I-- but I couldn't... I'm sorry." And the video ended. Dean turned around and swiped books off the table.
"Damn it!" And he walked off. I just stood there shocked. The guy that I loved was dead, just like that, he was my one tie to a normal life.
"Sky?" Sam said coming up to me and putting a hand on my shoulder.
"H-he's dead... He's dead." I said, then I broke and started crying, Sam pulled me into a hug.
"It's okay." He said rubbing my back trying to calm me.
"No it's not!" I said getting out of his grip and ran to my room.
~~~~~~~~~
Sam's POV
"Yeah, I know you haven't seen him, Keel." Dean said on the phone walking into the library. "Nobody has. All right, well, if you talk to Garth, then just have him call in.... Yeah."
"Garth still M.I.A?" I asked.
"Yeah."
"How about the other prophets in line? I mean, if Kevin is, uh... Is dead, then won't one of them be activated?"
"Nothing. No, not a peep. Here we are-- no leads, no tablet, sqat."
"Well, I mean, we got all this." I said pointing to the papers with Kevin's notes on them.
"We should have moved him here." I looked at Dean then started printing again. "Where's Skyler?"
"In her room. She hasn't come out since we watched Kevin's video."
"I'll go check on her." He said and walked away.
Skyler's POV
I was sitting on my bed just staring at the wall, I stopped crying and just sat there, thinking of how I could have saved him. I was pulled out of my thoughts by a knock at my door.
"Come in." My voice was hoarsed from crying, I didn't look away from the wall. Then door opened, footsteps, then my bed shifted.
"How ya doing?" Dean asked.
"How do you think?" I asked.
"Look, I know Kevin was your friend b-" I chuckled. "What?" He asked.
"He wasn't just my friend Dean." I said looking at him. "He was my boyfriend."
"What? When?" He asked shocked at the news.
"Remember the first trial, when Kevin asked if we could talk?" He nodded. "Well he asked if I was still mad at him-"
"Mad at him for what?"
"I called him so many times when him and his mom ran away. I was pissed that he didn't answer or call back. Then I told him I cared about him, then almost slipped it but he pushed me, and I told him I loved him, then he kissed me, and that's it." I said looking at my lap. "He was the only tie I had to being normal.... and now he's gone." A tear slipped down my cheek, Dean pulled me into him.
"I'm sorry kiddo." He said resting his head on top of mine.
"Why does everyone that I love have to die?" I asked, tears burning my eyes.
"Hey." He said pulling away and looking me straight in the eye. "No matter what happens, me and Sammy are always going to be here for you. No matter what you do, you can't get rid of us." He said with a small smile. I smiled a bit. "And no matter what, everyone, Bobby, dad, Ellen, Jo, Ash, your mom, me, Sammy, Cas, and Kevin, we'll always be right here." He said pointing to where my heart is. I nodded and hugged him tight, He hugged me back. "Now how about we go try and figure out what the last trial is so we can slam the gates on those evil sons of bitches?" He said getting up, I nodded and followed him.
~~~~~~~~~
We were at it for hours until we settled on a casino in Colorado where we think Metatron/The Messenger of God is.
~~~~~~~~
We found the casino and booked a room so we could search for Metatron. Sam looked like he was getting worse. Sam was joking about the past and then past out, Dean and me went to the little museum. We learned Metatron liked stories and the front desk man was older then he looked. Sam called but he never said anything, so Dean and me ran up to the room and found Sam on the floor, he was burning up so Dean put him in an ice bath, and he woke up. Somehow Sam knew Metatron was here, and that he could hear him, like he was linked to him. He said he was remembering things as we walked, then he showed us the room he said Metatron was in 366, there was so many books everywhere, then there was a cock of a rifle and a short man with curly grey hair pointing it at us.
"Who are you?" The man asked.
"Metatron?" Dean asked. "This is Metatron? This is Metatron?" He asked Sam.
"Sit down." Metatron went from in front of us to behind us in a blink of an eye. Dean sat on the chair, Sam sat on the table, and I sat on the floor in between them. Sam kept holding his ear and wincing. "Who sent you?"
"We came on our own." Sam said a little louder than needed. "We're the Winchesters."
"I'm Dean. This is Sam and Skyler." Dean introduced us.
"You work for Michael?" Metatron asked. "Or Lucifer?"
"What, you really haven't heard of us?" Sam asked. "What kind of angel are you? We're the freaking Winchesters."
"Sam you're shouting." I said.
"Michael and Lucifer? T-those-- those dudes are in the deep fryer." Dean said.
"Yeah. We put them there ourselfs." Sam still shouting holding both his ears.
"What about Gabriel and Raphael?" Metatron asked.
"Dead."
"You really don't know this?" Dean asked.
"I've been very careful." Metatron said.
"Hey, can you--" Sam grunted. "Can you turn that down?" He asked.
"Turn what down?" Then the look of realization went across his face. "Oh. You're resonating."
"Resonating? What-- what do you mean, resonating?" Dean asked.
"You've undertaken the trials. You're trying to pull one of the great levers, aren't you?" Metatron asked. "You're pretty far along too." He said putting the gun down. "You get that far along, you start resonating with the word or with its source on the material plane-- with me."
"You said you were being careful." Dean said. "Careful how?" He asked.
"I'm not one of them. I'm not an archangel. I'm really more run-of-the-mill. I worked in the secretarial pool before god chose me to take down the word. Anyway, he seemed very worried about his work, what would happen to it when he left, so he had me write down instructions. Then he was gone. After that..." He pulled up a chair and sat down. "The archangels took over. They cried, and they wailed. They wanted their father back. I mean, we all did. But then-- then they started to scheme. The archangels decided if they couldn't have dad, they'd take over the universe themselves. But they couldn't do anything that big without the word of God. So I began to realize maybe they would realize... they needed me."
"So, you get a ruffle in your feathers and just decide to disappear," Dean said. "Go stick your head in the sand forever? You have no idea what's been going on out there?"
"Nope. That's the whole point." Metatron said smiling.
"So you have been hold up here or--or--or in a wigwam or before that, in some cave, listening to stories, reading books?"
"And it was something to watch. What you brought to his earth-- all the mayhem, the murder, just the raw, wild invention of God's naked apes-- It was mind-blowing. But really, really... it was your storytelling." Metatron got up. "That is the true flower of free will, at least as you've mastered it so far. When you create stories, you become Gods of tiny, intricate dimensions unto themselves. So many worlds. i have read as much as it's possible for an angel to read, and I haven't caught up."
"You know what?" Sam asked. "Pull the freaking trigger." He said out of the blue.
"What?"
"Pull the freaking trigger." Sam said standing up.
"Sam" Dean said worried.
"...You cowardly piece of garbage."
"Hey." Dean and me stood up.
"All the time you've been hiding here, how much suffering have you read over?" Sam grabbed the gun and pointed at himself. "Humanity's suffering. And how much of it has been at the hands of your kind?!"
"Hey, hey." Dean pulled Sam back. "You want a story? Try Kevin Tran's story. He was just a kid. He was a good straight-'A' kid, and then he got sucked into all of this-- this angel crap and become a prophet of the word of God-- your prophet." He said pointing at Metatron. "And you should have been looking out for him, but no! Instead, you're here, holed up, reading books."
"He's dead now because of you." Sam said, I kept my gaze on the ground, I thought if I looked up, tears would start falling. Then I started feeling pain in my neck, like someone was choking me, I looked up at Sam and Dean holding my neck, I didn't know what was going on. Then Metatron did something and it stopped, then Kevin appeared on the chair, bruises on his neck, I was feeling his pain, then Metatron healed him.
"Kevin?" I said sitting on the table beside the chair.
"Is that it?" Dean asked Metatron. "Is he good?"
"Give him a minute." He said and walked off. I grabbed Kev's hand and smiled, knowing I got the guy I cared about the most in this world(Well other then Sam and Dean) back. Then I remembered I haven't told Sam about me and Kevin.
"You guys are close." Sam said, like it was time to tell him.
"Well, we are dating." I said.
"Since when?" He asked.
"Since when he wanted to talk to me on the boat before we started the first trial." I said looking at Sam then back at Kevin. Then Kevin started stirring.
"Dean. Dean!" Sam and, Dean came over and Kevin opened his eyes.
"Kevin?" Dean said putting a hand on his shoulder. "Hey." Kevin looked around and smiled. "We thought we lost you, kiddo."
"I'm good." Kevin said and going into his pocket, and pulled out the other half of the demon tablet. "Second half of the tablet, and I got it." He said handing it to Dean. "Third trial." He said with a smile, Dean looked at him. "I didn't tell Crowley."
"So what is it?" Sam asked.
"To cure a demon." Metatron answered. Sam, Dean, and me looked at him in shock.
"Yeah." Kevin clarified. "Who are you?" He asked.
~~~~~~~~~~
We get in the car and drove to the bunker.
"Cure a demon?" Dean said not believing what he was saying. "Okay ignoring the fact that I have no idea what that actually means, If we-- if we do this, you get better right." Dean asked Sam. "I mean, you'll stop trying to cough up a lung and-and-and bumping into furniture?"
"I feel better, yeah, uh, just having a direction to move in." Sam said.
"Well, good, 'cause where we're headed doesn't sound like a picnic."
"But we're heading somewhere. The end." Then Dean saw something in the road and made a heavy stop. Him, Sam and I got out of the car.
"Cas?!" Dean said.
"A little help here." Cas said in pain. We looked at each other in shock.
