"She says she's OK.
She says she is fine.
but underneath that smile is a broken heart"
―anonymousChapter Seven – Addie
"You need to relax." Kalila told me as she dragged me to my room
"I'm not going." I told her firmly
"Yes you are."
"Drunk teenagers who like to get touchy, not exactly the best option for me is it?" I asked her
"Asher and I will look out for you and I'll personally kink any guy who gets touchy with you in the balls. Now go shower. You're stitches are out and you're healed up."
"Drinking isn't my thing." I told her as she pushed me into the bathroom
"Jesus, it's not like it's a raging house party. We're going to a lake, lighting a bonfire and camping. There's going to be drinking there and loud music, but it's not going to be crazy. You need to meet new people. I packed our bags for the weekend."
"Is Lalan okay with this?" I asked
"Yes, come on."
"Fine." I gave in "But if it's a crazy party I'm taking your car and I'm out of there and you can catch a ride home with Asher." I warned
"Deal. I promise it's not that kind of party. I'll get your clothes ready. Don't worry it's cold outside so all scars will be covered." She told me and I sighed in relief. I don't even wear short sleeved shirts because it shows the scars on my arms.
I took a shower and I sat while Kalila did my make up to cover the tiny bit of bruising I had left and the scars on my chest and neck.
I put on the ripped up skinny jeans and long sleeve shirt that dipped not too low and then grabbed an infinity scarf which would cover the scars if the make-up comes off. we got in her car and drove the hour to whichever lake that we were going to.
When we got there it was only six but the music was already blaring as people were setting up tents
"Kalila I can't sleep here." I said panicking
"Why?" she asked
"I'm going to wake everyone up, I can't, and they're going to know."
"It's okay, I'll be right next to you." she promised
"I don't know." I felt my stomach in knots
"What if Asher sleeps with us?" she asked
"If he'll sleep with us I'll stay." Okay.
We set up the tent and I smiled when Asher's truck drove up and was glad he was here, well until someone else stepped out of the truck too and I immediately glared at Kalila and she smiled guiltily
"This is why you wanted me to come." I grabbed her arm and yanked her into the tent
"It's fine, there's going to be a lot of people."
"You're supposed to me on my side" I told her
"I am. And you know for damn sure Liam's not going to let anyone get too touchy with you so no need to worry about that anymore."
"I hate you." I said annoyed as we got out of the tent.
Liam looked at me and like I did to Kalila he immediately looked accusingly at Asher and they got into what looked to be an argument before he settled on pretty much the same reaction as me.
Crossed arms and being annoyed.
"Liam and I are done." I told Kalila and she rolled her eyes
"Fine, a weekend isn't going to change that then and you should be glad there's someone else here that will look out for you."
"Are you trying to hurt me?" I asked
"Of course not." She sounded confused. I glared at Asher and he gave me a sheepish smile
"That's it." I stormed over to him and grabbed his arm, digging my nails into his skin so he wouldn't yank his arm away and grabbed Kalila too, trailing them behind me as I walked to a part where we could be alone.
"What are you two playing at?" I asked
"Nothing." Asher smiled innocently
"Don't give me that bullshit."
"Look, everyone needs to learn to get along so you two can talk or avoid each other. If you've moved on then there shouldn't be a problem."
"You two know how I feel and what happens when he goes to find some other girl to dance with or hook up with?" I asked
"He's not going to have sex with anyone."
"No shit, but just because I've respected his decision to move on doesn't mean it's not going to hurt me to see him with someone else."
"It's going to be fine." She promised me and I just shook my head at them and walked away
"Addie!" Kalila called after me
"Save it." I looked at her over my shoulder and ran right into someone
"Ouch." I grabbed my stomach and I quickly stepped away from whoever it was
"Are you okay?" he asked me and I groaned
"Just fucking great, of course it's you." I snapped at him and he looked at me confused
"Okay." He said
"Sorry." I mumbled and looked up at him
"Come here." He took my hand and pulled me into my tent.
"What are you doing?" I asked
"Making sure you're okay." His cold hands left Goosebumps as he lifted up my shirt to look at my stomach.
"That looks painful, why did they drag you here?" he asked
"Well they said to get me to relax but I'm now guessing it was because they got you to come and thought it was a great idea to trap us together for the weekend."
"I didn't know, I promise." I don't doubt that.
"It's fine, I guess if we stay away from each other we'll be fine." I pulled my shirt and went to leave
"I don't want it to be that way." He gently ran his hand up and down my arm and I pulled away
"Sorry, habit." He didn't look sorry but he didn't look not sorry either.
"Liam I'm trying really hard to move on because that's what you want and I can respect that but please stop with this. You can't do this to me. You can't kiss me and say sorry and walk away. You can't sit there and take care of me because it's killing me. I need to move on and I can't when you do things and then say it's habit."
"I know, I'm sorry." He raised his hand to touch me and I shook my head
"Like that, you can't do that." I said
"This isn't easy for me either." He told me and I shrugged
"You're the one who chose it." I told him and walked out. We kept our distance as everyone arrived. I recognized some people from my classes and even though Kalila seemed pretty popular she stayed by my side
