i had severe writer's block and disinterest in continuing this story despite it almost being over/it being over. my apologies. (explanations & other at the end!!)

joy of youth

"you ready for this?"

"yes, i am."

"are you sure?"

"yes, i'm sure," tyler takes a deep breath, and exhales chuckling. "i don't need a fourth pep talk, alright?"

"ok, cool, because i might."

"josh!" tyler exclaims, "you can't just go and fucking bail on me! please."

josh sticks out his tongue. "i'm kidding. i was prepared a millennia and a half ago."

"you're mean," tyler pokes at his boyfriend. "will... will you at least gimme a good luck kiss? i mean, we're both gonna need it, eh?"

tyler winks, which earns him a shove.

"oh, how the tables have turned."

"shut up, i'm serious."

"hi serious, i'm—"

"one more joke and i'm going home," tyler grumbles, crossing his arms and putting on his best angry face (which, by the way, was not very convincing).

josh pouts. "aw, don't be like that."

"then you stop being mean."

"i'm not being mean! i'm being fun."

"you're being annoying is what," tyler deadpans. josh rolls his eyes.

"alright, fine. i'll shut up, and we'll go on with this. okay?" josh pleads. he was most definitely just as nervous, but he was doing a much better job at concealing it than tyler. he reaches for his boyfriend's hand, intertwining their fingers. he holds up their hands. "see, i'm here with you."

tyler offers a shy smile. "let's do this thing."

josh grins. "hell yeah."

as it turned out, no one really payed too much mind to tyler and josh. they went on with their lives.

those god-awful jerks, tyler's so-called friends tried to cause a commotion, sure, but they were inevitably, effectively, and efficiently shut down.

everything was good in the world, and josh couldn't be prouder to parade around his boyfriend (gosh, did he love saying that).

tyler became more open and confident with himself. his dimpled smiles were no longer far and few between. he made better, real friends.

it was like something out of a cliché, high-school movie fairytale—and josh and tyler couldn't be happier.

(the end!)

wow, ok, i kinda just spewed this last chapter out because i didn't want to just completely abandon this story right at the end. however, i will not be continuing to write joshler, or on wattpad for that matter (as my bio says- i'm on ao3 now, if you want the user, you can ask me).

even though i have moved platforms, i haven't been writing all too much between school, work, and other things. so sorry for the long-ass delay.

i hope this was a good enough ending for you all. i'll miss this a ton!
