my eyes fluttered open as the persian hopped off my small tummy. i sat up, my neck and back stiff and eyes swollen. as i headed towards the door, i took a quick glance at the clock. 5:38am. i wobbled towards the front door, hearing a loud pound on the thick wooden door. my bare feet slowly glided against the kitchen tiles, and i heard the small taps of the cat's steps behind me. my thin hand wrapped around the unlocked doorknob, being greeted with him. his face.

cheng he. the smirk on his face was filled with mischief. unbelievable. he reached his veiny hands toward my chin, caressing it oh-so-gently. his hands traveled and made its way around my waist. at this point, my body was in complete shock. i felt disgusting and dirty. i just wanted to shrivel up and die, knowing that he still thinks we're together.

just as i thought i was going to lose my mind and go into a panic attack, loud hissing was heard, distracting him. i did the only thing i can only do in this situation. his grip was so tight enough to hold some of my bodyweight, but not all of it. i lifted my legs so cheng he would drop me without warning. i slammed the door shut, echoing through my ears. after locking the door, i sat on my knees, and harsh chest pains settled into my ribcages. with clenched fists, my hands began to sting, unable to loosen.

the cat rushed up to my hands, licking them with his rough tongue. he gently scratched at them, forcing my nails to separate from my skin. then, he worked on the other hand. after constant bouncing back and forth trying to keep my hands unclenched, the cat went away. my breaths became uneasy again, unable to move. i remember what one of my old therapists said, ground yourself. although this was genuinely an effective way to recover from a panic attack, it seemed impossible at the moment.

minutes have passed, and the cat still hasn't returned. after several deep breaths, i tried to gather the courage to look for it. right before i got up, i see a tall shadow in the corner of my eye. i stood up and waddled to the other side of the room, peeking into the short hallway. the silhouette began walking towards me, without realizing my presence. the man looked up slowly and we met eyes.

"oH FUCK"

"OH sHIT"

we screamed at the same time, obviously scaring each other. he bent down, catching his breath. "aw man, i really wanted to surprise and comfort you." he said in disappointment, looking to the side to avoid eye contact.

"why are you just assuming i know who you are and why you're here?" i blurted out, seeming ruder than i wanted it to sound.

"minghao, its because you do. i'm sorta shocked you don't recognize me. i've gotten told that i really do look like my cat form." he said with a smirk, walking closer to me.

"wOah there buddy boy. you're saying that you're a cat, more specifically my cat?" i choked, pressing on my temples.

"yeah, pretty much. anyways, my name is jun. i'm not really sure why i can turn into a cat, and i don't really care. i don't know much about myself, oddly." jun said with a shrug, seeming unbothered about the awkward conversation.

"cool, but how am i going to explain this to the rest of the dudes? ' hey yall yeah my cat just turned into a hot looking human, what do u think' " i said in a sarcastic tone, rolling my neck around.

"mmm, not exactly. i don't think they'll mind that much. last time i checked, i don't shed in this form. plus, if they really don't like me, i can just roam again as a cat. it doesn't really bother me anyways." he said while shifting his focus to the floor. i brushed my hair back in frustration. there really was no particular reason why i didn't want jun to leave, it just didn't feel right. i guess i disliked the fact that i was abandoning a cat, just because it was different.

followed with a sigh, i walked up to jun. "look, your ass isn't going anywhere. i'm not abandoning you as a cat. ever. my worst nightmare as a kid was my dad abandoning my childhood cat. again, not happening. honestly, you're not that bad looking, so i'm going to assume that they'll let you stay. of course, as long as you don't shed." my muted giggles broke the awkward silence as jun focused his blank gaze on me.

"really? you think i'm cute?" jun flashes a small grin, twiddling with his thumbs.

"uh- don't get too cocky. you gotta work on that if you wanna stay under a roof you can call home."

"yay! i can stay!" jun said, running up to me and pummeling me to the ground with a hug.

"oof-"
