Chapter 1: Confusion

I was on the final lap of our race when something fast hit me. It caught me off guard and threw me off my balance, I used my left arm to break the fall. I got a few bruises but mainly my arm hurts so bad, its like i broke or tore something.

I looked to see what hit me, then I saw it was my best friend, Dylan Wellington. Looks like he also got badly injured. I lay down on the ground and heard the teacher call for the medics.

My arm got really messed up because of that race. Now I'm at the clinic just waiting for the test results. To find out what happened to it.

"Ton, napano na yang braso mo?" Tanong ni Dylan. "Ewan ko boi, parang may nabali ata. Ikaw kasi eh biglaan bumilis takbo mo" sabi ko.

"Hindi lang naman ikaw yung nabigla, kahit ako nga hindi ko alam kung paano ko nagawa yun. Nasugat pa nga ako eh" paliwanag nya.

"Ang tanga kasi nung bato, hindi tinitignan yung dinadaanan" pang aasar ko sakanya. "Aba kasalanan ko ba na bigla bumilis takbo ko?" Tanong niya.

"Shempre katawan mo yan eh, tapos di mo kayang kontrolin" sabi ko."Loko ka talaga" pagsuko nito

Even the teachers didn't know what happened. Confusion was written all over their faces. Most of the students were amazed by Dylan's sudden burst of speed. It was unexpected from the nerd of the batch.

"Mr. Dylan Wellington, please report to the principal's office immediately" narinig naming sabi ng prompter.

"Sige boi una na muna ako, bakit kaya ako pinatawag?" Pag papaalam nya sakin. Sasagot pa sana ako pero may kumausap bigla sakin.

"Mr. Cleaton Williams? We have your test results. It shows here that your arm, other than bruises, had no severe injures whatsoever." Sabi ni Nurse Joy.

I was shocked upon hearing the results. There has to be a reason for this throbbing pain in my arm. It was more than the bruisies. I was about to complain but I just kept it to myself.

I came home and greeted mom and dad. Mom was surprised when she saw my bandaged arm. "Cleaton Williams, anong ibig sabihin nitong mga to!" Galit nyang sabi. "Nakipagbugbugan ka? Ganyan ba tinuturo nami-- "

"Ma, mahabang storya. Basta nagrace kami sa phys ed kanina sa school tapos natamaan ako ni Dylan kaya ayun nadapa kami" pagpapaliwanag ko. "Ahh, ganun lang pala. Pero ok ka na talaga?" sabi ni mom.

"Ikaw naman kasi Erin masyado kang paranoid" natatawang sabi ni dad. "Hay nako James, shempre kahit hin- ahh k-kasi paano kung m-mapuruhan sya, hay kain na nga tayo" nauutal na sabi ni mama. Weird

So we ate in silence and no one dared to say something until suddenly my dad spoke "oh so how's school Cleaton?" He says. "Ah, wala dad ok lang" I replied. And after that there was more silence.

After dinner I texted Dylan. "Boi, bakit ka pala pinatawag sa office kanina?" But he didn't reply. I just shrugged it off, he is probably busy reviewing for our tests or something.
