They were back in the car and on the way to the not-so-abandoned house. Drew had not explain fully what was going on. There was a jitter in the car, s feeling of uneasy.
"I'm sure you are all curious why we are going back," Drew interjected.
"No we are just going back to the psycho's house uninformed," Zeke challenged, but was immediately wacked by Lauren in the stomach, "OW!"
"Shut up," Lauren spoke without opening her mouth, breathing through her teeth, "I don't even know why we took you."
Erin popped up from the back seat, "Just put the stupid drama behind you and just listen to him, you are acting like five year olds. God, this is very important." Erin laid back down on her seat, already knowing what Drew is going to say.
Drew coughed and readyed himself to tell the group what was going on, "Lilac has Martino. She has to. He was the one that texted us."
"How do you know that?" Iris questioned.
"How shocked and sure she was that the text didn't come from there. She only uses burner phones. Remember the fire pit that was out front. It was glittery from burning the phones."
He wasn't finished but he paused. Not for effect but to let the information sink in. Everyone was in shock and amazed they hadn't thought of it.
"Go on," Lauren was ready to here more.
"Wait a second," Ezekiel was not convinced, " How do you know that Martino is the one that texted us?"
Erin coughed and answered, "I may have given him Iris's number, so he could get to know more people around campus."
"I am going to just ignore that you gave some rando my number," Iris rolled her eyes.
"Anyway," Drew took a breath, "The girl had black strands of her on her shoulder, short strands."
"Dogs," Zeke shouted.
"None of them her black, not even brown." Drew corrected. "And locked door, I think that's where he is."
Zeke was not convinced, "This is pretty far fetched."
"Stop trying to ruin everything!" Lauren screamed.
"I am not trying to," Zeke clenched his fists, "We are about to go somewhere we could die. Sorry I am asking a few questions."
"I know it's far fetched but how can the police not find a fifthteen year old, who doesn't know his way around the country." Drew confessed with a glint of hope that Zeke would agree.
"Fine, maybe you are right but are we really prepared for this?"
"Her dogs are not attack dogs? They won't hurt us."
"Ok, there is no way you could know that." Zeke scoffed.
"How could she possibly have the time to train those dogs? Where would they be trained? Attack trick need more than one person. Either they are not her dogs or they don't know how to attack."
"Damn you and your good points," Zeke laughed for the first time in weeks. It felt so good to smile, "But I literally just ran to this van from the park with only a phone and earbuds."
"It's nice that I live in the city, I can grabbed everything we need," Came from DrewThe rest of the drives was actually not bad, if you ignore the parching oven that was the van. Well, that car was old, it was almost 12 years old, so the air conditioning was not working at all. That wouldn't matter as much though if hadn't been ultra hot out. This october had been one of the hottest it had ever been in a century. But the suffering ended when they got to the house. It was still as eerie as before but a the feeling of mystery was gone. Thankfully though, they cops didn't check out the house because Erin thought it was better to tell them a different address just incase.
