There's a story of a girl
One with power immeasurable
But she was scared
She didn't want to hurt those around her
So she kept it a secret
Isolated herself
Showed no one her true power
And everything around her was safe
She hid in a bottle
But one day she met a boy
A wonderful, understanding boy
Someone that she could trust
So she told him everything
He swore to her
He would protect her
He would save her
Others around her took advantage
Of her state of weakness
And poked and prodded
And hurt and left her broken
She couldn't fight back
She was afraid of what she could do
But the jerks kept coming
And pressure was building in her body
She couldn't take it anymore
She snapped
Turned
Became her worst nightmare
But the people stopped
She realized the power
surging through her
It felt so good
It felt so right
Why did I hide this from myself
The girl changed
She became egotistic
She hungered for power
She wanted to be at the top
And took out anything that stood in the way
Weaker people were laughed at
Stronger people were challenged
She was at the top of the world
Sneering down at the dystopia below
She scanned the sea of fear and heirarchy
But she saw a face
Cloudy eyes reflected back at her
disappointment
Fear
betrayal
It was the boy
The boy she liked so much
The boy she tossed aside as her anger grew and twisted into greed
A wave of realization
A forbidden switch
That his helpless expression
Tugged at
Horrified at herself,
She thought
And thought
And thought
What have I become
