I woke up the next day with a headache from crying too much. I sighed, getting off my bed and getting ready for another boring day at school. I was a little worried from what happened yesterday because I didn't know how he would act. I honestly felt bad for him and I wanted to help him but he shut me out just like everyone else. I didn't know what I did to get bullied by him but I was willing to help him.
I got into my car and put the key in ignition and drove off to school. Once I arrived, it was like every other day. Grayson's group leaning on his car while he sat on his bonnet staring at me but this time it wasn't an angry stare, it was sad. Hurt. I walked into school and found Jess and Ethan waiting for me at my locker. "Hey guys" I said, bringing their attention to me. "Hey" they both smiled. We talked for a few minutes like usual and then walked to lesson. This was the lesson that I sat next to Grayson and I was kinda scared as always.
I got to my seat, sighing, and sat down. Grayson and Kyle, one of his jerk friends, came in and sat down but as Kyle took his seat behind me, he hit me with his bag "accidentally". "Oops" he snickered but this time Gray didn't join in laughing. He shook his head and looked out of the window. Half way through the lesson, the teacher told us that we needed to be partners with the people next to us for a presentation for the next week. Grayson wasn't listening because he was still looking out of the window so I needed to get his attention. "Um Grayson?" I asked quietly. No answer. "Grayson?" I said a little louder. Still no answer. I gently tapped his shoulder and his head snapped my way. "What?!" he seethed. "We have to work together for the presentation" I explained. "Fine whatever" he said and I got the things ready and began the work, him obviously not doing anything. He just sat there staring at me and it made me really uncomfortable. "What?" I asked after a while because it was really irritating me. "Nothing" he said, continuing to occasionally stare at me.
Finally, the end of school bell rang and I couldn't wait to go home and relax. I jogged down the steps and to my car but before I could open the door, someone grabbed my arm and I had a good guess who. I turned around to see the person and I was right. Grayson. I looked at him waiting to see what he wanted and he stared back with his beautiful yet cold eyes that hid all of the pain he was having. "Come with me" he said but before I could decline, he was already pulling me to his car with every ones eyes glued to us. I hesitantly got in after him and he peeled out of the crowded car park. I soon realised that we were going to the woods that we would camp in when we were kids. No one else ever went there.
He pulled up the car not too far from the tree lines and got out, waiting for me to do the same. I got out and he took me to the huge fallen tree that we would sit on. We climbed on and sat in silence for a few moments until he decided to break it. "I- I'm sorry I guess" he said. "Uh it's ok I guess" mocking him. He looked at me and quickly looked back at the floor. "So are you gonna tell me why you brought me here?" I asked, softy. "I don't know. I just wanted to come back here" he shrugged. "But why did you bring me?" I questioned, putting my hand on his back. He tensed up but relaxed a moment later. He shrugged again, making me sigh. I will admit I was still scared but I just wanted him to open up to me and be friends again or at least civil. I got up and he looked at me. "Where are you going?" he frowned, also getting up. I climbed onto the huge tree that we used to when we were younger and he smiled slightly, joining me. He easily beat me climbing up even though I had a head start because he had amazing body strength. He grabbed my hand without thinking and pulled me up and we both sat down in silence again but this time it was surprisingly comfortable.
We slowly began to talk about our childhood and he started smiling more. These were genuine smiles that I haven't seen for years and it was so contagious. His laugh and smile would make everyone else copy because it was beautiful. "I miss you" he admitted out of nowhere. I was kinda taken aback but smiled at him to which he gladly returned. "Then why did you hurt me?" I asked, playing with the hem of my shirt. He was also playing with his fingers. "I can't tell you. I'm sorry" he frowned, avoiding eye contact. I took his hands and held them for support. "Grayson you know you can trust me. You can tell me anything. Please just let me in" I begged. We both had teary eyes but his were more glossy. A tear rolled down his cheek but he quickly turned his head so I couldn't see and wiped it.
He stood up and held his hand out for me which I took. I just then noticed that it was getting pretty dark and we had been out here for hours. He helped me climb down the tree and went back to the car. We got in and sat in silence as he didn't start the car. He played with his hands again and i took them and he looked at me. "Gray please. Just tell me. Maybe I can help you or something but please. I still care about you and that will never change. I promise" I pleaded. "I-I'll tell you tomorrow. Lets get you home and I'll take you to school in the morning" he said, pretending to be fine. I really wanted him to tell me there but i didn't want to push him when he finally agreed on telling me. He drove me home and walked me to my door. "Uhh so goodnight?" he said more like a question because he didn't know what to say. "Oh stop being so awkward" I nudged his shoulder playfully, earning a slight chuckle from him. "Night Gray" I said, hugging him tightly. He was taken a back by this but soon hugged back and I went inside.
