I woke up to Grayson on his phone hardly awake. "Hey what time is it?" I asked, my voice dry from just waking up. "8:45" He stated, smiling weakly at me still with his eyes half closed. "Ugh we've missed school. My mom gets home in a few hours and when she sees I'm not in school she's gonna freak" I groaned. "Well then we'll go before she gets here and spend the day out and get back around the time school ends" he suggested and that's what we did.
We both got ready and had some pancakes and went next door to Grayson's house. No one was home there either and he needed to change into some clean clothes so he got changed in his bathroom and I waited on his bed.
After a few minutes, the door opened and he was ready to leave. He was wearing a white fitted shirt and black jeans with a black leather jacket and black DM's. I'd be lying if I said he didn't look hot and I wasn't staring a couple of times.
We headed out to the woods again where we used to play when we were younger and sat on the same tree as before. We were talking about random things and catching up for a while. Then we got hungry and went to a cute little café and had some coffee and a croissant.
After a while, we got bored and went to the park and just walked around when Grayson wanted to show me something. "You have to promise to never tell anyone about this place. This is where I go when I'm stressed or have something on my mind, you know?" he asked and I nodded as we kept walking into the thick trees of the park. We continued walking for a while when I heard the faint sound of running water. He turned me around and my eyes were met with the most beautiful waterfall.
"Wow" I managed to blurt out and he lightly chuckled out of his nose, taking my hand in his large one and guiding me to a huge rock. "How did you find this place?" I asked, still taking in the amazing scene. "Well around the time I began to... change. I would always be out and I just wanted to explore and one day I came across this" he nodded his head to the water. I nodded my head and rested my hand on his, making him smile.
We stayed there for longer than we expected and it was already 4:35 when we left so we rushed home and I opened the door to find my mom sitting on the couch, eyes red and puffy with tears rushing down her face. "M-mom?" I asked, confused. "Where were you?! I've been trying to get a hold of you for over and hour!" She yelled, standing. "I'm sorry. I uh I forgot to tell you I was going out. Please don't cry. I'm fine. I'm here now" I said, assuming she was crying because she was worried although that wasn't really like her. "Avery, y-your father has e-escaped. He escaped prison" she cried, tightly engulfing me in a hug. A gasp escaped my mouth. My father, out of prison? This wasnt happening. It couldn't. He hurt us so much. I know he'll try and get us back for finally getting the courage to tell teh police.
"Hey, hey, it's ok. Everything is going to be ok, I promise" I lied. Nothing is going to be ok. He's a phsycopath...
