"so are you going anywhere for christmas break next week?" parker asks me while we're packing up our bags after class.
"i'm going back home to visit dad and tracy, what about you? or are you going to be too busy kissing victoria," i make kissy faces at him.
"haha very mature," he rolls his eyes at me a smile playing on his beautiful face, "as a matter of fact i'm going back home to visit my folks too."
"oh fun!" parkers parents are so awesome they're great friends with my parents and since me and parker have known eachother for so long. "will emma and lilly be there too?" emma and lilly we're parkers awesome sisters. emma's older then us by 3 years and recently got engaged while lilly is 2 years younger then us still stuck in high school.
"i know lilly will be but i'm not sure about emma. her and daniel might be going on some "romantic trip" together," parker explains to me.
"sounds fun!"
"yeah and apparently lilly got herself a new boyfriend and they're 'very serious'," he says extra dramatically with air quotes around very serious.
"lilly always has a new guy when you go back home doesn't she," i laugh.
"yeah she's not very good at long term relationships." he laughs along with me while we walk out the door.
"cya parker," i call after him when we have to split ways.
"bye lia!" he shouts back.
man he's so cute.

i call dad a few days later after getting some coffee to double check the plans of me coming home from college for break.
"hey pumpkin what's up?" dad says as he answers the phone.
"hey dad, you said you'd pick me up from the airport at 4 right?"
"yep 4 o'clock sharp. i'll be there."
"ok perfect!"
"oh and pumpkin, one more thing."
"yeah, dad?"
"you'll spend 2 days here to catch up with all of your hometown friends then you, me, and tracy are going to go to iowa for the rest of break!"
"iowa?"
"yeah, sounds fun! right?"
"yeah it's just isn't it usually tradition for you to wake me and tracy up from staying up super late to have some homemade french toast and eggs? at home?"
"yes but we can do that in iowa too! i promise i'll still make french toast and eggs! plus the place we're staying in is right on a lake, we can go water skiing and it'll be so much fun!"
not wanting to disappoint dad i just agree with him, "ok sounds fun."
"goodbye sweetie. can't wait to see you soon!"
"bye dad."
as soon as i hang up the phone i flop down onto my bed. iowa? why iowa? there's literally nothing fun about iowa.
