A groan left past Anna's lips as pain shot through to her head. Her attempt to raise her head failed, because it felt like something heavy was weighing heavily there.
Her eyes fluttered open and when she came to consciousness, her eyes met the view of the dark sky. For a while she admired the stars, feeling completely lost about what was going on.
It all seemed to come back to her little by little, the events that took place before she lost consciousness.
'I'm in trouble.' This thought rang in mind.
She moved her arm around, wanting to feel more of her surroundings. She tensed up when her fingers made contact with something soft, in which she recognised as hair after some time.
The fact that it was cold didn't help her racing heart. As she explored what she touched, she shuddered in when her fingers made contact with what she could conclude as eyes.
She freaked out and sat up, snatching her hand back. She struggled to get back onto her feet, but she pulled through with enough effort. When she moved around, her foot knocked into something, causing her to take a step back.
She felt around her jean pockets, being reminded that she had Danny's lighter. Flashing it on and focusing it on the ground, her eyes widened in terror and a scream broke through when she discovered corpses around her.
What made her almost hyperventilate was seeing Rachel, her cheer mate and classmate among the corpses. Her screams intensified when she recognised more girls, ones she knew. They looked so lifeless, it was heartbreaking to see.
Unbeknownst to her, the screams she let out caught someone's attention.
The person began calling out, until their calls broke through Anna's screams and captured her attention.
" Anna?!"
Anna glanced up and noticed Stacey, standing at the very top.
Never did she think she would be glad to see Stacey, but at that very moment, she was.
" Stacey, Stacey, you're alive?!" Anna said in surprise.
Despite how she felt, Stacey let out a chuckle." I wont die that easily, yeah?" An immediate frown took over her features. " How did you ----"
" It's a long story, look, there's dead bodies everywhere!" Anna said.
" Oh my gosh!" Stacey gasped.
" You have to help me up, I can't stay here for long. They- they-----"
" Okay, Okay, I'm here. I'll help you out." Stacey quickly said, shutting Anna up while also calming her down a little. " Look, you've got to try and climb out!"
" Okay!" Anna responded. " Here." She took a step back before throwing the lighter out of the pit.
Stacey, hearing the sound, quickly searched around her for it until she found it.
She switched it on and lit it for Anna to have a bit of light. Anna, didn't waste time but began nervously climbing up the rocky wall. She tried to hold on and be steady enough so she couldn't fall.
At some point, her nerves got the best of her and she almost slipped but held hold.
Her determination to get out of there, pushed her to finally reach the top and Stacey held out her hand, pulling her out the rest of the way.
They both fell to their knees, letting out heavy breaths.
"Thanks," Anna mumbled.
" No problem. Look, we've got to get back to the house, I promised Danny that I would be there when he returned, after looking for the others. Stacey responded.
