"Come on Gomez." Officer Philips yanked me along. I rolled my eyes, giving him the satisfaction of man handling me. It was probably the high light of his day. Catching me was always something he enjoyed.
"Aw, Bill. Don't be such an ass." I pouted, turning back to him. Yes, I've been informed that calling an officer by their first name and cursing at them wasn't the smartest thing to do. But my dear sweet friend you've left out key points. I. Really. Don't. Care. Well at least I didn't until he decided to tighten my leash. The metal scraping against my skin, making me wince. "Keep it up, Gomez."
"Handcuffs are completely unnecessary, don't you think?" I bit out as we entered the jail - holding center. My boots clicking against the white tile, a smirk on my face. The holding center was such an awful site. Walls were painted a sickly off white color - that people needed to stop manufacturing. The tiles were such a generic brand that I had seen so many times. The walls held the 'heroes' of our town, plus the officer of the month. In all it was a depressing scene. How people spend nine to five in here is beyond me.
"No, you're a criminal." He grunted out, most likely tired of walking. Bill was a heavy man, with graying hair on the sides of his head. His gut hung over his belt, and legs were twice the size of mine. His uniform barely fit on him. I have no idea why in the hell they kept him on the job. I could assure you his wife wasn't happy about it.
"Aw come on," I smiled as he forcefully sat me down, "I thought I was a troubled teen?" Before he could give me one of his signature grunts and disapproving glares, a squeal emitted from the opposite direction. I didn't even have to look over to know who it belonged to. Lucile was the receptionist of this depressing jail. The only bright thing in the whole joint.
"Selena! What are you doing back here young lady?" She said in her disapproving voice - well as disapproving as Lucile's voice could get. She wasn't old, but she wasn't young either. Just well over middle aged. Her light brown hair fell to about her shoulders, and freckles lit up her tan skin. She was a skinny lady, and radiated a motherly vibe.
I smirked and sat my hands in my lap, plopping my feet on the coffee table. Knocking a few magazines down in the process. Bill shooting a glare my way before picking them up. "Thanks lackey." I whispered as he stood up. My eyes darted away before he could react.
"Oh you know, petty theft." I shrugged, sending her a grin. She rolled her eyes and began typing away on her computer. Probably calling my favorite person in the world. (Note the large amounts of sarcasm.) "Officer Bieber isn't going to be to excited about you being here. You promised you would chill for a month, tops." She noted, looking up at me through her glasses.
I shrugged, "Y'all should have known I'd break my promise, Lucy. As Billy here says, I'm a criminal." Her green eyes narrowed, and her finger started waving. She shot good o' Bill a disapproving frown telling him not to call me that anymore. And that you only put into the universe what you wanted to happen. He grunted again, "She's gonna be a criminal no matter what I say, Lucy. Its inevitable."
"And you'll be a fat as-" "What are you doing back here so soon, Gomez." A smile took over my face and I shot out of my chair. "Jeremy! What took you so long, bud?" He ran his hands through his hair in frustration. I was surprised I wasn't scolded for calling him by his first name or calling him bud. Those were things that usually set him off. Something I enjoyed doing. Actually my greatest pleasure in life was annoying Jeremy.
I happily held my arms up, basically shoving them in his face. Mirth danced in his eyes and a smirk played on his lips. "I don't know..." He trailed off, wiping the smile off my face. "Jeremy." I deadpanned. "Selena." A smile took over his face. I rolled my eyes, marching toward the holding cells. "Sel-" "I know where I'm going!" I shouted angrily. He was really trying my fucking patience.
