Derek wiped the tears from Stiles' eyes as Stiles looked at him questioningly, leaving Derek to speak softly with a smile;
"Tears don't fall."
6 months later
Derek woke up alone. He was confused for a moment before smelling toast....burning. He shuffled out of bed, heading towards the smell.
"You're awake early" Derek perched himself up on the kitchen chair, across from where Stiles was sitting eating his breakfast.
"I was checking the weather, I have a lacrosse game later."
"You're playing?" Derek was surprised, his eyebrows reflecting the emotion.
"Well seems as we're down two players, I guess Coach has no choice but to let me play."
Derek nodded his head at Stiles' words, "am I invited?"
"I wasn't sure Lacrosse was your kinda thing..."
"They have nice shorts...I'm sure you can convince me" Derek shrugged.
Stiles laughed, "what about us being back in Beacon Hills together, are you sure that's wise?"
"Probably not."

Derek squeezed uncomfortably between people's knees and the seats in front of them. He scurried across the third row to where he saw Cora sitting, and sat down beside her.
He scanned the crowd of teens in their red and white jerseys before he spotted Stiles standing awkwardly between Scott and Isaac. He awaited the blow of the whistle anxiously, until it finally came.
Cora explained the rules throughout to him, although he was too busy focusing on Stiles. It seemed that Stiles was yet to make a shot, but he was good, Derek thought. It was almost the end of the game, and Beacon Hills were winning.
Cora turned to Derek, "so you and Stiles seem good?"
"Well no ones tried to kill us for 6 months."
Cora rolled her eyes at his flat humour, before jumping up and cheering. Derek caught it just in time - Stiles had the ball for the first time throughout the game. It was the last 20 seconds - the atmosphere was tense.
Stiles scanned the people around him, there was no one open to pass to. The clock was ticking down fast meaning he'd have to take the shot. He aimed the best he could for the net, seemingly shocked when the ball hit the back of it and the klaxon sounded.
He could see Cora and Derek standing up cheering for him before being crowded by the rest of the team. The crowd had started to disperse but Derek stayed to wait for Stiles.
He headed down onto the field, the rest of the team passed him to go and get changed.
"Hey..." Derek lifted Stiles chin up, "what's wrong?"
"Did you notice how no one passed to me?"
"Did you notice how you scored the winning shot?" Derek fired back with a smile, causing Stiles to smile too.
The lights started to turn off, so they quickly began making their way to the locker room.
"Where is everyone?" Derek scrunched his nose up at the smell of sweat and teenagers.
"Must've cleared out quick, there's a party at Danny's tonight."
"You're not going?" Derek questioned.
Stiles shook his head, kicking his shoes off. "It's kind of a team thing."
"A team that you're a part of."
"I'd just - I'd rather not go."
Derek decided to drop the subject, letting Stiles pull his things out of his locker.
"Do you reckon Coach keeps his office unlocked?"Derek spoke.
Stiles gasped, half laughing "Derek!"
"Right...straight A student" he held his hands up, "sorry."
"No you're not" Stiles laughed, ruffling his sweaty hair.
"You're right" Derek grabbed him by his jersey, "I'm not." Derek pushed Stiles backwards until his back hit the locker. He lifted him up, kissing him as Stiles wrapped his legs around his body.
Derek used his left hand for balance as Stiles kissed him, leaning into him gently. Derek felt Stiles' arms around his neck, supporting himself as he kissed him more. He felt Stiles smile, breaking the kiss.
Derek pulled back, "congratulations on your win" he smiled, before kissing Stiles again, more heated this time.
He felt Stiles' legs tighten around his waist as he yanked his jersey off.
"You've got to be kidding me..." they heard a very familiar voice behind them.
They both scuttled away from each other as quickly as possible, Stiles grabbing his shirt.
"Dad..."
The Sheriff placed his hand on his forehead, "I don't even wanna know. Both of you, out."
Stiles quickly got changed, stumbling behind his father as he dragged him out.
"Why are you in the school anyway?" Stiles turned it around on to his father.
"Reports of strange noises, I guess we found the source" his father glared at him and Derek.
Stiles went to speak but his father cut him off "you two shouldn't be here together, not given the past issues."
"Sheriff Stilinski -" an officer tapped his shoulder.
"They found out where the noise was coming from. You're gonna want to take a look."
Stiles and Derek looked between themselves, and then at the Sheriff as the officer took him off to one side.
They watched as he pulled out his radio. "Beacon Hills police department this is Sheriff Stilinski. Send back up to Beacon Hills High School, we have a 187."
Stiles' eyes widened, his mouth opening before his brain could catch up with him.
"A murder!?"
