Chapter 16
Dominic came back fifteen minutes later, far too much time than needed to go to the living room, where he had placed my things, and get a few pills. At least, the extra time allowed me to recover from my conversation with Anya, who still had a devilish smirk and mischievous glint in her green eyes. I scowled at her and she had the nerve to laugh. Damn woman.
She had gave me a lot to think about and, much to my frustration, she was right, what I felt for Dom was much more than 'like', was much deeper and much stronger. However, I was scared of admitting it, committing to a man like Dom was something for life, I was aware of that, and that was why I was a little hesitant in fully start a relationship... And the fact that I had psycho after me to get Dom was only contributing to hold myself back. He would not get hurt because of me. Over my dead body.
"Sorry, baby, but Jeremy and Scott had to talk to me." He apologized as he took big strides towards me. Anya quickly get out of the bed and winked as she walked out of the room as soon as Dom sat where she had sat before, holding my hands. "I tried to come here as soon as I could. Are you in pain? Do you need something else?"
"I'm fine." I chuckled as I grabbed the glass of water and swallowed the pills.
"Good." He said before laying beside me. Smilling at him, I carefully placed my head on his chest and his arms closed, almost instinctively, around me, making me feel safe and protected from everything.
The painkillers made my body felt heavy and I felt sleepy. However, I couldn't fall asleep without asking him first.
"Dom, are you still mad at me?"
It took him a few seconds to answer. "Yes, because you should've told me. I want to protect you but it would be easier if you didn't fight it."
"I did it for the same reason you're mad at me, to protect someone that I care about."
That shut him up. Dominic remained quiet as he petted my hair. Sleep was enveloping like a web, tightening until I started feeling my eyes closing. Snuggling deeper into Dom's side, I was fully wrapped around him when I felt his lips on my ear.
"I'll find him, I'll find him and I'll kill him. You'll be safe again." He whispered and, in my sleepy haze, I could only think how much I loved the man holding me.

I woke up slowly, completely relaxed and well rested. Stretching like a cat after a good nap, I heard someone chuckle beside me. Lazily, I opened an eye to see Dom watching my face over my shoulder. He was spooning me and had his chin resting on my arm as his hand ran up and down my waist.
