In the hospital I noticed my mother gazing off into space like she was this morning. I began to have this sick since in the back of my chest.
My mother really never was the kind to show her deep feelings, but when she did it was on accident. As I saw a tear roll down her face I realized that this was one of her accidental break ins. She noticed the little ball of moisture and quickly swished it away with her hand.

Meanwhile I pretended to be interested in something on my phone. I turned it off and sat it on the medical table beside me. "Mom please tell me what's wrong."
I waited for what seemed like years for a response and began to think she wasn't going to, but as I turned away she hesitantly started. "You already know that your father hasn't been around because of work."
      "Yes..." I added
She paused.. "I don't know how much longer of this I can take. I sit here patient, I miss him all the time but I still don't go and..."
She didn't proceed so I knew it was true. I had often woken up from his three in the morning phone calls with someone...
"I found an email." She muttered under her hands.
"I know." I didn't mention it anymore and neither did she.Everyone knew the reality, that my father was having an affair. But nobody would mention it to him.
After an x-ray, a splint and pain medications prescribed we left the hospital.
When we got home I felt exhausted so I went to my room and rested. My parents have been together for years, they where high school sweethearts I mean after so long of being married is he really going to ruin it all? A thousand thoughts swirled in my head and soon I dozed off, just the thought of what my mother was going through made me tired.
I awoke later on in the day to do some homework and take more pain medications and realized that it had started raining. I loved the rain for some reason. So I took my work and sat outside on the porch swing. I was almost finished with my history when my fathers car pulled up to the drive. To my surprise I started shaking with anger.
"Hey there Goldfish. It's getting cold outside, you're shaking let's go in." He said approaching me with his arm extended. I just looked at him for a moment in awe at his ability to hide the truth from the people he loved. "You okay?" I looked in his eyes and saw a little flicker of fear, fear that I knew.
"I'm fine dad, yeah it's cold let's go." I reassured him standing up to give him a hug.
He embraced me and we walked inside. My mother was standing by the kitchen drinking a water but when she saw us (him) walk in she slammed her cup down and went to her room.
"Well your mother told me about your nose. I didn't think you were that big of a klutz, let me see." He said reaching out for my face. I could see the criticism in his eyes. "They put the splint on incorrectly, your nose is going to end up looking vile if I don't fix it. Sit down." He wiggled it a little bit, leaned back and smiled in satisfaction. "There."
"Dad why are you home?" I wondered out loud.
He looked taken ajar and a bit hurt. "Well honey I need to talk to your mom about some things.."
"Alright,Goodnight." I said harshly walking away without waiting for a response.
