Kurt's eyes widened like saucers, he hadn't expected that. Although Blaine didn't speak much of his family, Kurt knew that Blaine's mother was as sweet as a rose.

Kurt remembered the pain he felt when he heard the news that he would never see his mom again. He remembered coming home from school, finding his dad crying.

Kurt had asked, "Daddy, why are you crying?"

Burt had told Kurt, "I know this is hard for you to understand, but your mom is dead."

"When will I see her again?" Kurt had asked.

Burt said, "Not until you go to heaven, Kurt."

Kurt remembered hugging his dad and crying, still not understanding why it had to happen to him. He remembered the tears streaming down his face as they lowered her into the ground. When Kurt got home after the funeral, he realized he would never see his mom again.

"Does the pain ever go away, Kurt?" Blaine asked like a hurt child, snapping Kurt out of his flashback.

Kurt blinked back tears he didn't know were forming in his eyes. Kurt desperately wanted to tell Blaine that everything was going to be fine, but he couldn't.

Kurt sighed "The pain never fully goes away, you'll feel numb for awhile, but then when the realization hits you, all the pain will come back. It will get easier to deal with over time, but it's hard, i'm not going to lie".

Blaine had a steady stream of tears running down his face.

"Come here." Kurt said, pulling Blaine into a hug.

"How did you get through it?" Blaine sniffled.

Kurt sighed, "Well, I had my dad with me the whole time. He was my anchor, without him, I don't know how things would've turned out."

"Will I ever forget her?" Blaine asked, choking back a sob.

Kurt cupped Blaine's face, "As time goes on, you'll forget some things, but the memories will last forever. Its been over 10 years since my mom passed, and I still remember the simplest things, like how she smelled and her smile."

Blaine nodded his head and held on to Kurt.

Kurt realized that he was Blaine's anchor. Without him, Blaine might sink. Kurt then promised himself he would stay strong, like his father did for him. But looking down at Blaine and thinking of his mother, Kurt could feel a tear fall down his face.

Kurt couldn't remember when, but he and Blaine both had a steady stream of tears going down their faces.

Kurt and Blaine's tears mixed together until they both fell asleep, still in each others embrace.
