A naughty smile played on Benjamin's lips when he grabbed Maru's arm. He felt her flinch.
Did she feel the spark, too?
She stopped walking. When she glanced at him, he smiled so sweetly at her. He even sexily fluttered his eyelashes, which he did for the first time.
"Maru, I'm hungry. Let's eat somewhere. My fave resto has a branch in this mall," he did his best to sway her to come eat with him.
He was hungry, alright, but when she opened her delectable mouth, food was far from his mind.
"If you're hungry, then, go and eat in your favorite restaurant. I'm quite fine here, Benjamin," she answered in a voice that insinuated she didn't care.
He felt as if he was kicked by the horse with her indifferent response. Could she just cooperate and stop resisting him? For Pete's sake, she was starting to get to his nerves already.
"But I want you to come with me and accompany me eat. There's no fun eating alone, Maru." He looked intensely at her. If he hadn't seen that flicker of admiration in her eyes, he would surely be discouraged.
His charms had now found a way to spew magic on her. He was sure of that. She was only trying her best to resist him. But he wouldn't stop until he made her succumb to his irresistible charms.
Her cold eyes hovered on him. "We already bought a new blouse and I'm fine now, Benjamin. Your duty as the Manager of Coffee Best stops here. You've made a dissatisfied customer satisfied already. Don't worry, I won't make a fuss anymore about the incident. I just want to go now."
But he wouldn't let her go. Not yet. The thought that he wouldn't be seeing her anymore left a bitter sensation on his tongue.
"You're right, Maru. My responsibilities as the Manager of Coffee Best ended already. I am now asking you to eat with me as a man. I am asking you for a date," he said straightforwardly. If she couldn't decode the nuance of his actions, then, he would ask her straightforwardly so she would understand.
Her mouth fell agape. And he had the strong urge to cover it with his lips. Her tongue stuck out and licked her lower lip. He groaned inside him as his eyes captured the sensual sight.
Man! Just that and he was hard. So fucking hard that it was painful!
How could he be attracted to a woman when she wasn't doing even the slightest flirtation to make his body sexually react to her?
"Why don't you just go back to your office, Benjamin?" she asked instead. Annoyance and exasperation laced her voice. "You might be needed there. For sure you still have work to do."
He shrugged his broad shoulders. "Don't worry about that, Maru. I own Coffee Best so no one's gonna fire me but me." He smiled at her sweetly again.
He really had to use his charms so that he could thaw the ice in her heart. He had never been this determined to get a woman's attention all his life. And he felt as if adrenaline rush all over his system, putting his hormones in overdrive, just because of a woman. A tiny, feisty woman in particular.
She was stunned for a moment. Disbelief was all over her face. Then, she turned her back on him and walked away.
"Come on, Maru, I know you're hungry. You haven't eaten anything in Coffee Best and it's almost 1 pm already," he said, glancing at his watch. "Let's have lunch together."
She stopped walking. Her hand caressed her stomach.
He was damned so sure that she was hungry.
She took a deep breath. "Okay..." she mumbled softly, but he heard it loud and clear.
And happiness flooded in his heart when she accepted his invitation. Weird, but he felt like he won a lottery, just because he finally swayed her to come dine with him.
He shook his head, laughing silently at his absurdity.
"But I don't want to eat in your favorite restaurant, Benjamin. I want to dine in Jollibee," she said, referring to the famous Filipino fast food joint.
The smile on his face was gone in an instant. What the heck, Jollibee? That fast food joint was way too cheap. He had never been there. He would rather bring her to a fancy restaurant where he usually hang out while dating.
His eyebrows cocked. "But-"
"If we're not eating in Jollibee, just forget about it. I'm not going anywhere," she cut him off. "I'll go and eat in Jollibee. You go and eat anywhere you like."
He took a deep breath. "Okay, if that's what you like, Maru. Come, let's eat in Jollibee, then." He did not bother to insist what he wanted anymore. He just agreed to her.
Well, he didn't want to give her the chance to change her mind. They're eating together. That's all that mattered for now.
