We were in fifth hour, which was English. Kinsley was in this class too. I sat with my hand on my chin, resting it. Arlene nudged my shoulder and nodded her head up.

"Talk to her." She whispered. I watched Kinsley walk in and noticed she was wearing headphones.

"What am I supposed to talk about?" I panicked as she was making her way over here. Her seat was in front of mine, so you can see how nerve-wracking this is for me.

"Talk about music." She quickly said, and went back to doing her work just as Kinsley sat down in her seat.

"Ok Ethan, you got this. Just ask her."

"So you like music?" Four simple words.

"Music, you like?" I fumbled over my words, from the corner of my eye, I could see Arlene shaking her head.

My cheeks turned bright red as Kinsley turned to me.

"Um, do I like music?" She laughed, I nodded my head not trusting what other words would come out of my mouth.

"Yeah, of course I like music. I'm pretty sure everyone likes music." She smiled.

"Yea, that's true." I stuttered a little.

"So, um song?" I asked.

"What the fuck Ethan?"

She laughed again and showed me her phone screen. The title of the song said "U said" by Lil Peep. I smiled at the title since I love Lil Peep too, but what made me frown was her lock screen photo. It was a picture of her and Jasper smiling at the camera while hugging each other. I quickly put on a smile so she wouldn't notice the change of my facial expression. (A/N: by the way Lil Peep's songs are a bop.)

"I like Lil Peep too." I said, happy that we have something in common.

"Really? Jasper hates-"

Before she could finish her sentence, the teacher walked in.

"Okay everyone in your seats, time for a pop quiz."

The whole class groaned, annoyed that we have to take a quiz when no one studied.

"Quiet! Or you all get zeroes!"

"Well good luck." Kinsley whispered to Arlene and I.

"How do you think you guys did?" Arlene asked us, as we walked out of class.

"I'm pretty sure I failed it." Kinsley sighed.

"Awh, don't worry Kinsley! I'm sure you did amazing!" I enthusiastically replied.

"Thanks Ethan." She laughed.

"Ugh, I just hope the teacher leaves soon!" Arlene frustratedly replied.

"I know! She needs to retire, like ASAP." Kinsley agreed with Arlene.

I laughed a little too obnoxiously and the girls stared at me.

"Ethan, why the hell do you sound like a dying monkey?" I heard Maria ask, as her and Gray walked up to us. I felt my face start to heat up.

"Hey babe." Jasper wrapped his arm around her shoulder, as he eyed me.

"Well I'll see you guys around! Bye." Kinsley said, walking to her next class with Jasper.

"You seriously need to get yourself together, she's just a girl." Grayson told me, crossing his arms over his chest.

"Leave the poor, obsessive lover boy alone." Maria defended me.

"I'm not an obsessive lover." I muttered.

"Really?"

"Hey-hey Kinsley!" Arlene mocked me from a few days ago. I pressed my lips into a straight line as the rest of the group laughed.

"I'll help you get closer to her, it's not that hard. She's very easy to talk to." Arlene smiled.

"Well yeah, easy for you to say, since you're the one who doesn't have a massive crush on her." I said in a 'duh' tone.

"Okay, let's not make this weird before I change my mind." Arlene patted my shoulder.

"Well Gray and I are going to hangout at my house." Maria informed us. I nodded my head and made my way to sixth hour.

It was finally the end of sixth hour. I headed towards my locker, noticing someone standing by it.

"Ethan! My man!" One of Jasper's friends said, talking to me like we were buddies.

"Um hi?" I said, but it came out as a question.

"Just wanted to warn you that if you talk or go near Kinsley again, Jasper will beat you six feet under." He punched my arm.

"Austin, what do you think you're doing?" I heard her beautiful voice say. It was definitely Kinsley.

"Is he giving you trouble?" She asked me, looking at Austin.

"No, he's not."

"It's funny how Jasper talks shit to me, but never does anything. I mean he had to send one of his friends to come talk to me." I laughed, that was probably a douchebag move but I didn't want to seem like a wimp in front of her. Kinsley stood there shocked at my actions.

"What was that?" The Austin kid said.

"I said, it's funny ho-" Before I could finish my sentence I felt a stinging pain on my cheek.

"Holy shit!" I yelled sitting back up. The impact from his fist to my face caused me to fall back.

"Austin, what the fuck!" She yelled at him, helping me off the ground.

"Just stay away from him Kinsley, you know how Jasper is." He spat, walking away.

I groaned holding my eye from the intense pain.

"Are you okay?" She asked me, her face full of concern.

"Shouldn't you get back to your boyfriend." I mumbled, I didn't want to act like that but I was just annoyed of Jasper and his friends.

"I'm really sorry about that. Would you want to go get some ice cream? My treat since Jasper's friend attacked you." I smiled at the fact that she felt bad for me. If I go I'll definitely be able to become her friend.

"Sure, but I'm still paying." I smiled, being a gentleman.

"Then it wouldn't be fair." She laughed as we walked to her car. We got in and she started to drive to some ice cream place.
