I walked through the halls, feeling a different vibe. I saw my friends chatting and decided to join them.
"She was so young, I can't believe someone did that to her."
"People are so horrible these days."
"What's up guys!" I greeted them, they looked more sad than usual in school.
"Hey Ethan." Arlene replied gloomily.
"Um, did I miss something?" I asked confused.
"You mean you don't know?" Gray asked me. I looked at them like they were crazy. Gray let out a breath of air, looking everywhere else besides me.
"Whoa, guys what happened?" I asked getting scared. I could feel my anxiety creeping up on me, and I was not liking it.
"Well, uh, yesterday Kinsley had gotten into a car crash. I don't know-" I zoned out once she said that Kinsley got into a car crash. It felt like I couldn't hear anything, besides a buzzing noise. I was frozen and it felt like I couldn't move at all. My mind was still focusing on the sentence Arlene had said.
"Kinsley had gotten into a car crash."
"Kinsley had gotten into a car crash."
"Kinsley had gotten into a car crash."
The words just kept repeating in my head, as my heart started to pound. I felt like it was going to explode, and not in a good way.
I ran out, heading to my truck. I don't care that I'm skipping school. I just need to make sure she's okay.
"Wait Ethan!" I heard my friends and brother calling after me, but I didn't stop. I was about to get in my truck when Gray grabbed my shoulder; stopping my actions.
"Dude, it's not safe for you to drive, not in this state of mind." I nodded and let him drive as I got in the passenger seat.
"You know you guys don't have to come." I sighed, running a hand through my hair.
"We're not going to let you go alone, are you crazy?" Maria asked rhetorically. I sadly smiled about how great of friends I have, and a great brother.
"What hospital could she be at?" I asked them, if anyone knew the answer.
"We could try the one that's ten minutes away. It depends on where she was driving." Gray answered, I nodded as I bounced my leg up and down.
"Kinsley Rowan." I told the front desk. The lady searched, and slowly looked at me.
"She's in critical condition, which means no visitors." I slammed my hands on the desk.
"Where's her damn room!!" I shouted. She jumped back in her seat and quickly told me.
"Room 34D."
"Did you get the room number?" Gray asked once they all caught up to me. I nodded as we walked towards the elevator. I pressed the buttons repeatedly, wanting the elevator to quickly go up.
I felt someone grab my hand, it was Arlene. She gave me a small smile and I tried my best to calm down.
"Are you going to be okay to see her. No matter what state she's in?" She asked me worriedly. I let out a shaky breath and nodded, keeping my eyes on the elevator doors. Once the doors opened I ran to her room paying attention to the room numbers.
"32."
"33."
"34."
I looked through the window of her room, and noticed Kinsley in a coma. She had a broken leg and a broken arm, from what I could see. The nurses were checking up on her and watching the machines just doing what they usually do. My hands made their way to the sides of my head, as I started to breath heavily, feeling the salty tears roll down my cheeks.
