Chapter 2

Intently Justin stares at the path leading up to S.O.W.A. I only assume that maybe he has regrets, regrets that he went with this job instead of another, regrets that he dosen't stand up to Joe. Only he knows why. I ask him as we stand there waiting for the rest of the group, why do you stare so intently at the path? Is it because you have regrets? In reply he says 

"I don't know maybe someday I will figure it out."

"Hey!", shouts a bunch of people pulling up and obviously it was our group. Why can't they take this seriously? I mean it is supposed to be their first and only job for the rest of their life. That's because of our society we live in now. The job you get is the job you have forever. I don't want them to mess this up for me because I might have a chance. A chance to be good, a chance to accomplish something, a chance to do what is right, and a chance to prove that i'm not a failure.

We all start walking towards the front doors right after Justin gives his speech to the late group. His speech on how you won't have a job here if you don't do what is expected of you by Joe Stone. That you will be running and hiding if you even just a little bit step out of line and Joe finds out about it. We are now walking through the doors and the two guards that are there start searching us and asking weird questions like " why are you here? Are you here to take us down?" Then Justin whispered something into their ears and they let us be.Right after that we are approached by this lady who is chewing on gum so hard that the spit is bouncing into our faces and painting her nails with red finger nail polish the whole time. Then she reaches into her pocket and pulls out badges she says " here are your official badges stating you work her so wear them all the time especially when you walk through the doors other wise the guards won't let you in unless you have a good reason."

As she walks off I whisper to whatever person was next to me at that time I guess that is why the guards at the doors acted the way they did this morning. The reply I got back was " heck yeah. You got that right like dude it was totally crazy they were complete weirdos. did they not know this time of year was when there's a new group of us that need trained. So obviously we didn't have are badges yet." I am shocked that something like that, something so negative came right out of Toby's mouth. I guess that i'm shocked because Toby looks so innocent. Oh know I just realized that the whole time I was thinking this must of been  awhile because now there is no sight of my group.

Maybe i'm the one that needs to be serious about this whole thing. I start panicking trying to calm my self  so Joe doesn't notice. As I start running I see Dash, and of course I follow her because we are always alerted when she is here. I assume she not scheduled to be here so she must have business that we don't know about. I follow her all the way out into the parking lot but it isn't the normal one this one leads to another building.

"Who are you?"

Dash asked? She turns around and I hide under a vehicle. She starts talking about how I must be a pro because people call her Dash and it's not only for the line across her head it's because she is quick. " I don't know who you are but your good I didn't even here you coming. And I wouldn't of if it wasn't for that faint sneeze I had heard." I roll out from under the vehicle and she notices me right away. " My goodness your no pro your one of those new people.

So admiring my car were you?

Yeah it has a nice red coloring to it. " It does indeed.

So what are you doing out here?"

Oh I uh got lost from my group I guess that I was daydreaming and lost them. " Okay then how about I tell you how to get back to them. Do you know where they were heading? I think they said something about checking out where we are going to be working at. "Oh yes go right then to your left and the 3rd door on the left with a bright grey sign you can't miss it."

I start running now in all the directions she said and sure enough I didn't miss it. I walked in as quite as I could no one noticed me that I thought until Jordan said " nice one ditch the class just like what happens in school." I can't believe it if you think about it even if it was an accident I did ditch the class. I don't actually do that in school i'm always trying to be in class. Always trying to get there on time and always trying to get great grades. Because i'm not a failure and I am and probably will always have to prove that to my mom. I'm not a failure i'm not a mistake.

Justin hands us a book after class has ended he tells us " use it, it is a map of the place and a guide on everything you need to know. Now head over to the library and study it. " we don't even start walking yet and hear " Oh my gosh there's a library yes yes yes a library this is so cool not only can we read this but we can read other totally awesome books too."  I am totally learning about my group  I mean I just found out Linnzy totally loves the library. when we get there it seems as if this place has been deserted. There is dust everywhere holes in the furniture and the only person I see must be the librarian. She has white silky looking curly hair and she is wearing glasses. We tried talking with her so maybe she could help us find more books to go with our guide. She didn't answer. 

We had noticed that Linnzy had some books in her hand so we started walking over to her. I asked her what those books were for. She replied " these are more  books to go with our guide I found them and now i'm so excited."  So now we all grab one and start reading them over in the dusty and musty smelling chairs all it really says is things like " we care about the worlds safety that is why we do what we do." You know things like that. it is all really things they tell us in class. As the others started reading I couldn't help but notice some of their faces. Eyebrows raising, confusing looks.

Finally this day was over we never did get the librarian to talk to us but she did follow us all the way out. Now we are heading home. I decide to take a short cut to my house because I really just want to go to bed. As i've made it past a few of the turns I feel like im being followed. I keep looking back and running faster and faster. I still here foot steps I am seeing shadows that are in the shape of a human. I decide to stop and turn around as I do a can clashes to the ground. It fell off of a dumpster I start walking towards the dumpster with my heart pounding so much.  It  makes it seem like the dumpster is getting farther and farther away. As I get closer I can see stripes. Grey and blue stripes.  It looks like Justin's and sure enough when I get there it is him.I ask why.

"Why are you following me?"

He answers back " I need to tell you that you need to stop. Stop everything runaway."  I am puzzled by these answers. " it isn't safe for you. You know to much Joe isn't happy because he doesn't know if he can trust you." I turn around still puzzled I can't even focus on were i'm going. I just know I need home now. I want to go home now even more than before. Home is were I need to be so I can think. I don't even care about leaving Justin right now. I don't care if he follows me. All I care is why did I ever have to be so nosy? Why am I having to leave now? What will Joe do to me? What will he do to Justin if he figures out that he came to warn me?

I am so giddy right now from all that running. I walk into my room and I try so so hard not to pass out. I need to focus on what I need to do? How can I even think about leaving my family? My mom walks in with a plate of food. She come over to me and says " You came home late so I fixed you a plate of food to eat I hope your hungry." I don't even think I just start stuffing my face full of chicken and potatoes. My mom gives me this glare like um your forgetting something. It hits me, I smile with my mouth full and say thank you. It is now 11:00 all the lights are out except mine. That is only because i'm plotting my plan. I have decided that I need to leave it's the only way to protect my family. As I start dosing off  a sentence crosses my mind from that moment and the rest of the night. That sentence is, what did I get my self into?
