Matt was looking into my eyes, and  I was getting a little nervous. For some reason, I was wishing that somebody would come up to us. I was speachless, and there was nothing to talk about. Suddenly, Lindsay and Mary ran up to us. They were drunk, but not too much.

"Cyndy, Matt, come dance with us" Mary said, pulling me with the dancefloor. A country song was playing, an old one. But it had a good beat to it. I was dancing with close to Matt, and we all danced in a circle.

"Hey, what happened to the cigarett?" Lindsay asked me. I froze for a while.

"I put it out" I lied.

"Did ya like it?" I nodded and forced a smile. Then, she reached into her pocket, and took out her pack of cigaretts. She handed me another one, and lit it up too.

"Gee, thanks" I said. I wasn't using it though. I was having so much fun, I lost track of the time. Maybe because Matt wouldn't let me leave the dance floor. I got to really know him. The music was loud and aall of us were having fun. Mark and Jason came to dance with us too. I gave the cigarett to Matt and he put it out for me. I'm guessing Lindsay really wanted me to smoke, cause she gave me another one. Then, Matt led me away from the dance floor.

He had a beer in his hand, it was like his sixth one.

"Can you hold this for me?" Before I could answer, he handed me his beer and left. I just stood there with a cigaratt in one hand and a beer in the other. A while after he left, somebody tapped me on the shoulder. I turned aruond, and Dallas was standing there! He looked at the items in my hands, then at me. I got a little scared.

"Were you smoking and drinking?" he asked, sounding a bit stern. I shook my head.

"I'm just holding this for a friend, and a friend gave me this, but I didn't use it" I explained. He got the beer and cigarett, and placed it on the counter. Then, he grabbed my wrist, and led me out of the house.

"What were you doing here?" he asked.

"I was here with some friends" I replied.

"Darry must be worried about you". I started feeling a little guilty. He was right, Darry must be going crazy wondering where I am.

"Are you taking me home?" I asked. He released my wrist, and I began walking next to him.

"Yea" he replied. I knew he would. It was quiet for a while. Was he mad at me? I sure hope not.

"You didn't get hurt right?" I shook my head.

"Acually, I met this really nice guy named Matt" I said. I turned to look at him, and he seemed troubled. I was ganna ask him about it, but decided not to.

"Is he a soc, middle class, or a greaser?" I looked at him, remembering Micheal.

"He's a greaser" I stated. Okay, this was getting wierd. I wonder what he's trying to do. It was pretty awkward after that. We walked the rest of the way in silence.

Once I got home, he left and I walked in. Darry was sitting on the couch reading the newspaper. He looked up and stood up.

"Where have you been?" He sounded more worried than I thought.

"I was out with some friends" I replied.

"This late at night?" I didn't say anything. What if he's mad, but is trying not to yell at me.

"I left when I got home from work, but I didn't get hurt" I said.

"Why didn't you tell me you were going out?" I shrugged.

"Cause you weren't home, and I was invited at the last minute" I explained. He sighed.

"Are you sure you didn't get hurt?" I nodded. "Okay, then go on to bed, it's late" he said. I nodded and went to my room. Ponyboy was already there, sound asleep. I crawled into bed, but wasn't able to sleep at all. I did like an hour before I had to wake up.

The next day, I woke up kinda late. Sodapop was shaking me, trying to wake me up.

"Wake up sleeping beauty" he kept saying. I knew it was him cause of his voice. I opened my eyes and sat up. He was already dressed. "Time to go kiddo" he said. Then he left. I got out of bed, and quickly got dressed. When I finished, I stepped out, got a pepsie, and was on my way to the DX. Sodapop was driving so I could get a little bit more sleep. Steve was in the passenger seat, while I was in the back. He and Sodapop were talking about something, but I wasn't really listening.

"Hey Cyndy, how was your night?" I heard Steve ask. I slowly opened my eyes, and saw Soda hit him on the arm.

"Shut your mouth, can't you see she's tryin to sleep for a while?" Soda said in a low voice.

"Sorry" Steve apologized. I closed my eyes again and tried resting. It was quite difficult cause I get car sick easy, so I just stared out the window.

"You ain't ganna sleep?" Soda asked. I shook my head and drank my pepsie. I wanted to turn on the radio, but there ain't no radio stations yet. We got to the DX a few minutes before opening. I was already in my work clothes, so  just went to the cash register and put my head down."You're tired arn't ya?" I looked up and saw Sodapop. He had on the smile that can make anybody smile. I nodded and yawned. "Why didn't you come home earlier last night?" I shrugged. He merely cocked an eyebrow, and chuckled. "Better wake up before we open" he said. I nodded and sat up. I already finished my coke, so that should help me a bit.

As the day went by, I tried my best to keep my eyes open. When it was time to go home, I walked out of the door, into my car, and layed down in the back seat. I don't know who was driving, but as long as I go home. I felt the car moving, and I tried to keep my eyes closed. But as I said before, I get car sick easily. I was getting pretty dizzy, and my head started hurting bad. I felt like as if I was ganna be sick any minute. I was grateful when we finally stopped. I heard a door open, and somebody placed a hand on my forehead.

"Cyndy wake up, we're home". It was Sodapop, ofcoures. But I didn't want to get up no matter what. "C'mon Cyndy, we're home" he said.

"I don't want.. to" I slowly responded. He sighed. I felt him pull me out, then pick me up. He carried me in his arms, all the way to room. Then he set me down on the bed, and I finally went to sleep.

I woke up around sundown, so I walked out of the room and into the living room. The gang was here. Some were in the kitchen.

"Finally woke up huh" Steve asked I nodded and slightly smiled. I sat on the couch next to Two-Bit. He looks older than his age.

"You probably shouldn't of stayed at that party late last night" Dally blurted. Sodapop turned to me.

"You went to a party last night?" I slowly nodded.

"Where at?" He wondered.

"Buck Merril's" I responded. Sodapop seemed tensed up  or something.

"You didn't drink or smoke right?" I shook my head. He looked relaxed now, and sat down on the couch. I looked around the room, but didn't see Ponyboy or Johnnycake.

"Where's Pony and Johnny?" I asked.

"Went to the park" Soda informed me.

"I'll go with them" I said, standing up.

"Alone?" Steve asked. I nodded.

"I ain't the little girl that used to always get jumped anymore, I'll be fine" I said. The guys looked at me as if they didn't believe me. I walked out of the house and headed for the park. Ponyboy hasn't been talking to me lately, and Johnny either. Come to think of it, Johnny hasn't talked to me at all since I've come back. I barely noticed that I was still wearing my work clothes. I should of changed before heading out. Sometimes I wonder if I have a memory problem. I mean, I would tell myself to do something, but then I end up forgetting. It drives me nuts, much more my big sister. Suddenly, I noticed a yellow clasic trailing me. I turned around as it stopped.
