"fucking hell, why did they place the good shit on the highest shelf?" I cursed at myself as I struggled to grab my favourite cereal.
I'm not even short for a girl, 170 cm is above the average height in this country. I tried tiptoeing but still could not reach the glorious Cheerios. I even tried jumping but it was still to tall for me. I sighed at looked at the choices that was available for my height to grab. This sucks.
"I guess I'll just grab some fruit loops and head home." I was deciding when someone tapped my shoulders.
"Excuse me, I need help." The stranger said while frowning. I laughed. But at the same time I couldn't understand what he was saying
"What's so funny?" He said frowning harder. I laughed harder as I tried to translate what the hell he said to me.
"Your um face? Like Justin Bieber? Expression?" I said in his language with the most atrocious grammar and tone ever.
Now he was the one laughing at me as he realised I couldn't speak his language.
"You can't speak Mandarin?" He continued laughing. I just nodded and blushed.
"A bit? No really? Parents no teach." I tried recalling any vocabulary that was probably erased from my brain.
" Well, I know English so I guess it's okay." He said while shooting me a toothy smile. Wait did he said he knows English or I'm hearing this wrongly.
"English?" I asked.
"Yes, English." He answered back. Man, I feel awful that I couldn't speak my own mother toungue. I shook my guilt away as I decide to help the stranger.
"So what help did you need?"
"One thing is that I can't read in English yet, I just moved and I'm looking for the asian snack isle." Is this guy for real? The snack section?
"Oh, it's on the 7th isle on your right." I replied
"Thanks! It was nice to meet you!" The tall guy said. Oh, I could ask him to help me but before I could, he was already running to snack heaven.
"I guess, we shall see each other in our next lifetime." I whispered as I gave a flying kiss to Cheerios, shamelessly walked out of the grocery store and headed home.
