Conversation #12: "The End."
Two hours later....
*Ring. Ring.*
Brad calls, but no reply.
Two days later.....
*Ring. Ring.*
Brad calls, but the phone is busy.
Four days later, Brad calls...
*Ring. Ring.*
(A woman who sounds like she's been weeping picks up.)
Mrs. Henson: "......Hello?"
Brad : "Hello,....Mrs. Henson?....It's Brad. Brad
Williams?......If you remember....I called to
speak to Trisha about 4 or 5 days ago?"
Mrs. Henson: "Williams?.....Oh....right. The guy she used to
tutor."
Brad : "That's right....Ah,....pardon me for asking,
Mrs. Henson.....but is everything alright?.....
You sound upset.
Mrs. Henson: "You mean....you don't know?"
Brad : "Know what? I've been calling your house for the
last several days, but haven't been able to get
through. Also, I haven't seen her at school at
all recently. And....I just called to see if she
was...okay."
Mrs. Henson: "I'm afraid I have some bad news, Mr. Williams.
Trisha has been in the hospital these last few
days....in a coma due to an overdose of any
number of the pills in our medicine cabinet."
Brad : "Hospital?......Coma?.....Overdose?......What
are you talking about? How'd this happen?!"
Mrs. Henson: "She came home from scholl extremely upset about
four days ago....went straight into the bathroom
......and stayed in there for hours......Her
father and I tried talking to her through the
door for about fifteen minutes....but she wouldn't
open it....And wouldn't tell us what was wrong...
.....And....finally after we hadn't heard her come
out....my husband broke the door down.....and there
we found her passed out on the floor with several
open bottles of medication scattered on the ground.
......All we could do then....was rush her to the
hospital.....She wasn't breathing."
Brad : "My God!....Can I see her?"
Mrs. Henson: "I'm afraid that won't be possible."
