Chapter 2

Finn

Taking his luggage out of the uber by himself, no thanks to the uber driver who was to0 lazy to help, he trudged his single heavy suitcase to the college admissions office.

“How may I help you?” A girl with shoulder length blonde hair asked kindly to Finn, beaming up at him. He looked at her questioningly, She looks too young to be working here…

“I’m madilyn”, she eagerly held out her hand for him to shake. “I’m the girl’s R.A.” she rushed out, answering the question in his head immediately.

“Ohhh, that makes more sense now” he chuckled, smiling brightly at her. Finn could already see the tint of pink shading her cheeks while she looked at the ground, also laughing.

“Yea, so you’re a freshman right?”

This time Finn blushed wildly before answering, “Umm, yea…”.

“You’ll love it here, oh and I’m a sophomore”.

“Oh… that’s cool…”, he answered back awkwardly. Finn knew he didn’t have a lot of experience with girls, but he didn’t think it would be this bad…

“Well are you just gonna stand there?”, she chuckled to him.

His face then turned scarlet as he stumbled on his words, “I umm, need umm, room?”

She grinned at his incoherent sentence. “And you are... Finn Weiler” Madylin steadily searches through the drawer of room keys as Finn closely admires her determined expression, as her brow slightly furrows and her eyes sparkle in determination, as she carefully looked for the key.. “Ah! Here we are… room 118” She grins handing over Finn’s dorm room key.

Her grin turns into a worried glance when she notices Finn’s accusing stare. “H-how did you know my name?”. He asks warrily.

“Oh, um, you are wearing your name tag” She points to his breastbone. “From orientation” he looks down at his tag and his face becomes as red as it has ever been.

“Oh yea… Sorry about that” he apologizes while cradling the back of his neck, something he usually does when he is extremely nervous or embarrassed.

Madilyn giggles, making his face turn about 50 different shades of red,, “it’s ok, you can call me Maddie by the way”,

“Well it was nice to meet you Maddie, I’m… Uh… gonna get going… to my… uh… room…..” he struggled to make a coherent sentence.

“I’ll see you around Finn”, she waves, giving him one of the most genuine smiles he’s ever seen, as he waves back and trudges his suitcase along with him.

Finn let out a very deep breath as he made his way to the building his dorm room would be in.

He couldn’t stop thinking about Maddie, every time he tried his thoughts constantly came back to her. He never had too much experience with girls. Only once in high school he had a girlfriend of one year, but she was very pushy and demeaning.

“Hey watch out!”, the next thing Finn new he was on the ground with his suitcase askewed a view feet from him.

“I’m sorry I wasn’t paying attention”, he apologized.

“Yea obviously”, the person muttered under their breath.

Finn brushed himself off and stood up tall. He then searched around to find the victim of his fall. He noticed they also fell and was on the ground next to him, so he kindly held his hand out for them to take.

They were weary at first but then trusted him and took his hand, which he then pulled to bring the person upright.

Finn looked at the person. Wow she’s pretty… Finn thought to himself. He observed her face slowly as he stood there. He took in her round face and thin lips. He admired her bright green eyes, which he never saw before, and her short brown pixie cut, which he wouldn’t normally like, but he thought fit perfectly on her. He also noticed her short height and every big curve of her body.

“Umm are you okay?”, she waved a hand in front of his face.

His face then turned bright scarlet once he was caught staring at her.

She let out a small chuckle, grabbed her single suitcase, and started to head off in the direction that Finn came from.

He gulped and then face palmed, clearly embarrassed by the awkward encounter he just had. Wow, I thought what happened with Maddie was bad… he scolded himself.

Gathering as much pride he had left, he pulled himself together and started towards his dorm.
