Brick POV
"I can't believe summer is over already!" Boomer whined
"Will you shut up," Butch yelled
"I'm upset!" he said
"Boys," the Professor called us down stairs. I was the first one down and out the door. Butch was second, dragging Boomer along with him. His mood picked up once he saw Miyako and instantly ran to her. He held her like he hadn't seen her all summer.
"Hey stupid," Momoko smiled as I kissed her cheek "Ready for school?"
"Not one little bit," I smiled. We're first years now. That means a whole new bigger school with bigger people we've never met before. The walk wasn't much further than our old school.
"Hey guys!" Brandy called holding hands with her boyfriend, Randy. Next to them Asami with Natsuki. This is the band of loser looked down by the popular kids. Taka was waiting for us but the front gate and waved us down.
"Welcome to next worst four years of your life!" He smiled brightly
"How comforting." Boomer said defeated
"We'll be fine." Momoko said. "Its just high school."
"To be young and naive, how I miss it." Taka smiled. We walked over to a small section in the courtyard with tables surrounded by trees. "So...did everyone have a good summer?" Randy said trying to lighten the mood.
"Sure." Butch replied recalling the events of meeting Kaoru's family.
"I didn't have it so easy either." I replied thinking of Momoko's dad. We both looked at Boomer. He had trauma in his eyes and said in a low voice.
"We do not speak of that night."
Taka and Kaoru gave a nod of understanding, clearly they both have a different interaction WITH Miyako's grandmother than the rest of us.
A girl with brown hair came up and sat next to Taka. "Nice to meet you all I'm Kimi Haruka."
Kimi recalled her summer vividly or lush and lavish along with Brandy who she formed a quick kinship with.
"I say summer was kinda hectic." Momoko spoke "Stressful honestly."
"Yeah Natsuki was freaked out the while time about coming to high school!" Asami giggled to
Natsuki's dismay."Troubling," Miyako agreed "Very troubling."
"I think, summer was fine the way it was." I spoke. "Annoying and aggravating to say the least but kinda worth it in the end. Something to remember."
