CHAPTER 4

I woke up in a soft mattress. My vision is as clear as it could ever be. My senses are keen but controlled. Odd, I felt refreshed.

Something moved next to me. It was the child that pointed a gun at me before, Travis. "So you're awake" He said before stretching.

"What happened, child?" I asked him.

He hissed. "Can you not call me a child? It's not cute." He turned his back on me. "Just sleep."

"I can't. Once I'm awake, I am awake." It was a plainly truthful response. "If I ever do sleep, I would suffer from nightmares. But, what is cute?" He started coughing. I stared at his back, weirdly, and watched him sat and coughed some more. "Are you okay?" I couldn't help but ask.

A little later and he's back to normal. He went back to bed and covered himself with the comforter.

I heard no vibration from him. And for some reason, it does not bother me. I somehow feel like a human—just a bit.

"But you didn't have nightmare just now." He suddenly spoke. I thought he'd sleep?

"You're right, I didn't." I smiled. This is also odd. How can I talk freely?

I turned my back, as well. I stretched my mouth when I noticed there was a smile unnoticed but my smile remained. Maybe I will be able to sleep now.

I closed my eyes only to have it opened once more. I heard some vibrations outside. "Travis." I called for him. He was immediate to stand. I floated and readied myself for battle.

"Luna."

I fell on the bed. Goodness, this other child is just—. I mentally sighed. I don't know either. I was relieved that there is no enemy in the house we are in but I am also kind of pissed because she went out of nowhere.

"Yes, child, speak up." I smiled at her.

"It's a good thing you are safe. Linda managed to save you with Travis' blood."She smiled back. I can hear her worry faded away."I am very honoured to serve you like my mom, even for a short amount of time. I'm sorry for arriving late to be of service."

I gently shook my head.

"It's okay, child, you did a good job finding me."

She bowed down her head. "Royal guardian of the night, I had sent the elderly the message of your arrival. She said that my fellow Comandrus will be seeking the elves' help to perform your slumber spell."

Something ached inside of me. I haven't finished the thousand year slumber to cure myself from the damages I caused while creating a child that could assist me to my duties.

I nearly sent myself into my own death bed.

The elves and Comandrus had helped me perform a thousand year slumber to cure the internal damage, a risky spell with rules to obey in order to be cured, for bending some rules can cause more harm.

986 years sleep. A sad smile was formed on my face. Waking up a day before already means death.

I understand why they want me to be in slumber once more. I need to start recounting.

"Send my thanks."I said before lying down, once more.

"I wil—"

"But I won't be sleeping yet." I cut her off. That's right I won't. "I have seen a total of 8 ghouls since I woken up."I stared at the ceiling. The memory of the two ghouls flashed in my vision. My eyes became mistier with tears. Thinking about how innocent and fragile those children makes me think how similar could the first 6 I had killed, as well. They could have been victims as well. I may be wrong with my judgement because I was not yet fully awake that time. "I killed 6 already and I almost killed those 2 innocent children."My tears rolled down my temples. I sobbed but I managed to contain the next. "Tell me, Red, did my Loona managed to win the war with the Devil Clan when I slept? Did my first child died with honour?"

I heard her stood straight with tears ready to fall from her eyes. She had a wide smile plastered on her face; I can hear the edges of her lips shaking.

"Loona made it. She did her part of the war."

Laugh with cries, those are the only thing I could do. I was happy that my child carried out her duty but I was hoping she'd say that my child also survived.

My heart ached. I was hardly containing my sobs to myself. My breathing became heavy and unstable.

"'I am proud of you my child.' Say it."I slowly turned my gaze to Travis who's now kneeling on the floor. He used his arms as pillows and rested his chin on it. Our eyes locked. "Whisper it to the moon and the moon will send it to her. 'I am proud of you my child.'" I sobbed once more. I sobbed and laughed at his words.

"What? I am not joking. My parents used to tell me this, 'The Almighty God created the Moon Goddess to hear everything, may it be the most silent whisper, if it comes from the heart she will hear it more clearly and will grant it if it's a wish or deliver it if it is a message'." I became much more teary. My body shook with every inhales and exhale. He hissed. "I said I was not joking." He carried me like a sack on his shoulder.

The next thing I realized is I'm already seated on the rooftop of some facility in a mountain I am not sure where.

"Go ahead, whisper it."

Yet instead of whispering, I smiled at him with my eyes and had my left hand held his right cheek. I closed the gap between us with the final seal—a kiss.

The moon shone more brightly; actually it shone brighter than it could ever be. The sky rained down specs of assorted coloured lights as Travis and I also glowed with it.

There was a curse in having overflowing power.

A tear fell from my eye, thinking, I can only pray to the Almighty for my message to be delivered, because the Goddess of the Moon can only grant someone's wishes or deliver someone his message, but she can never had her wishes granted nor her heart's whispers can ever be heard.
