WAKANDA, AFRICA JULY 2017
"Your highness?"
T'Challa took his attention to Okoye and the Dora Milaje who were now walking in with someone.
"We found her by the borders. She was trying to get in."
T'Challa stood up as they brought the woman towards him. She groaned when Okoye talked and turned to her.
"I told you, I was talking to the animals. Not trying to get in."
Okoye then pointed her weapon at the woman toward her neck. Just as she was about to make a move, T'Challa halted her.
"Release her."
"Pardon?"
The woman asked before Okoye approached.
"Are you sure it's wise to let an outsider roam free through your kingdom?"
"If she makes the wrong move, you know what to do."
Okoye sighed before nodding and the cuffs came off of the woman.
"Do you have a name, outsider?"
"Maya."
T'Challa nodded before he looked at Okoye.
"Take her to outside to the animals. See if what she says is true. One move and you know what to do."
Okoye nodded before she guided Maya outside of the palace. Maya was able to get a glance at the King. His eyes met hers and she saw a look. She couldn't really see it though.

"Time to do your job."
Maya looked at Okoye warily before she looked back at the panther in front of her.
She slowly but swiftly closed her eyes and did her job.
"Mwen se zanmi ou. Tanpri, pa bezwen pè." (I am your friend. Don't be afraid.)
She spoke as the panther backed up a little. She smiled sweetly to it and held out her hand. It slowly approached her; being on it's guard.
The panther, surprisingly, brushed it's head against Maya's hand. She smiled before she rubbed it; the panther purring at her touch.
"What language was that?"
"Haitian Creole. The language people speak in Haiti. My father was born there and my mother was born in Kenya. I took most of my father's features while I have my mother's eyes, personality, and hair."
Okoye nodded before a smile went across her face. Maya smiled back before she went back to petting the Panther.

"I know you do not agree with me, Mother."
"Exactly. There is an outsider in the fields!"
"Mother, I understand you're concern. But she can help with the animals. Okoye will monitor her and help with her until we can think of what to do with her."
"I hope you know what you're doing, T'Challa."

Maya giggled as she watched the Panther cubs play around; rolling over each other and pawing at each other. The Mother Panther began to stroke her head on Maya's arm.
She smiled before petting the Mother's head.
"Maya?"
Maya turned around and stood when she saw T'Challa standing behind her.
"Your highness? Um, hi."
"Hello. I see you're making progress with the animals."
Maya felt something wet go up her cheek and she looked down and saw the baby cub licking her face with excitement. Maya laughed before she looked back at T'Challa.
"Yeah, I guess you can say that."
"I would like to invite to dinner tonight."
"Dinner? Wow. Um, thanks! I appreciate it."
"Someone will help with picking a dress for you. It's starts at 6. I look forward to seeing you there."
Maya smiled and nodded before she sat the cub down.
"Mwen pral tounen demen, oke?" (I will see you tomorrow, okay?)
The Panthers purred before she smiled and walked away.
"I think I made the right choice."
