3 - A C T - L I K E - Y O U - D O N T - K N O W - H I M
It's Monday - two days after the party that was held, two days since I got that almost impossible dare and two days since I put my dare into action.
I had my Law class at 12PM, a Psychology class at 4PM then another Law class at 7PM, it was currently 11AM.
I took up Law as well as Psychology as I wanted to at least go to one class I'd find use in the future for, Psychology was from losing a stupid bet and Law was because it had my genuine interest.
I was on my way to get an iced tea before I started to head back to my college, I was walking there and back from how untalented I am with not being able to drive. The walk wasn't that far - only a fifteen minute one but adding up the minutes of me just sitting in the small, cosy cafe with my drink after waiting a good few minutes for it and then going back to my dorm room to get all the necessary books needed, I will be right on time for class.
"Good morning, what can I get you?" A cheerful woman broke me out of my thoughts with a smile so bright I think I caught a glimpse of my future, gentle eyes soaking up my appearance that was probably the worst it could ever be and body bouncing from excitement like she just had two full jars of jumping beans.
"Iced tea with extra sugar please," I smile back, obviously not as bright as hers but hopefully it did show how appreciative I was of her getting me my well needed iced tea.
I wouldn't say I'm obsessed but whenever I'm in or near a cafe I would go and get iced tea... maybe the tiniest bit obsessed?
"That would be $2.35!"
As I'm about to hand over 3 dollars, a hand shoots out in front of me forming a huge cloud of confusion float over me. I quickly push away the mystery persons hand before handing over my very neatly folded money only for it - again - to get pushed away.
The lady watches in amusement as we silently fight to pay however I'm not really sure on why a stranger is trying to pay for me, the only solution I can come up with is that this is their good deed for the day but I don't need a anyone to waste a good deed on me when others need it more.
"One of you pay already! I need to get a cupcake and some orange juice for my pregnant wife!" Someone yells from behind us causing me to turn around and flip him the bird, some people snort and others laugh that were in the line.
While I was in my moment of weakness (flipping the guy the bird), I didn't realise the mystery person paid which I reply with a groan of frustration.
I quickly turn around to the stranger who was so desperate to make me their good deed for the day after we both get out of line to wait for my order, did they order? It's Jay Gallagher.
"Why did you do that?" I question him straight away, he doesn't talk to anyone let alone pay for someone's drink, what is going on?
"That's my way of saying thank you," he replied, his hands shoved into his front pockets awkwardly making me want to grin from how innocent he looked right now but I forced it down.
"For...?" I trail off silently signalling to him to continue my sentence, we're already finishing each other's sandwiches - cute.
"For getting that girl away at the party the other day, she was so persistent 'Jay come dance!' 'Fuck me tonight baby' 'Love me, make me your girlfriend!' Like shut up can you take no as an answer? God!" The guy in front of me ranted, using his hands to make crazy gestures which triggers my grin that I've been trying so hard to keep locked in the bottom of what I call my soul, he looked so done with everyone and everything... it was cute.
"Yeah, she looked annoying too, don't worry about it," I smile widely back at him, just on queue, my well deserved iced tea is served.
I nod at the woman who served me my tea as a way of saying thanks before looking at the time.
It's 11:30, shoot!
"Hey I have to go, my class starts soon," I rush out. "I'll see you around?"
"Sure," Jay replies, still a little dazed from my sudden outburst.
My professor does not fuck around when it comes so Law, if you're even a second late you're kicked out of the class for that lesson.
"Ok," I nod standing up with my iced tea, "I guess I'll see you later..."
"You don't know me?"
"Should I?" I say feigning an innocent look.
"No! No, I just thought everyone knew everyone on campus," he stutters out which bubbles a small giggle out of me.
"I don't pay attention to people I don't hang about with," I smile up at him, obviously that's a lie but he doesn't need to know that, besides I needed an excuse to explain hoe I don't know him - I mean everyone does!
"Well I hope we start hanging out then," his reply back causes my eyes to widen, I search his expression to see if there's a hint of a smile - anything that will tell me he's just joking about with me but nothing. He's serious!
"I guess that would be nice."
"Jay Gallagher."
"Huh?"
"Jay Gallagher, it's my name."
"Oh- um, well it's nice to meet you Jay Gallagher," I shake his hand jokingly. "I'm Violet Kelly and I can't wait for that hang out," I tease lightly causing him to chuckle.
"I really have to go or I'm going to be late for Law, Mr. Garfield will kill me if I'm late," I break the silence before quickly walking toward the exit of the homey cafe.
"Ahhh good luck, have fun!"
"I'll try!"
And with that, I rush back to my dorm to get my books before practically sprinting toward the lecture room just making it in time before Mr Garfield closes the door completely.
He gives me a stern look as I quickly squeeze through the small gap between the door and the frame which I reply with an innocent grin before rushing toward my designated seat in the back.
