Are you scared?

My heart rate sped up way too fast. For a moment I just stood there, trying to fully understand what that exactly meant. Panic flooded my system, heating up my veins. Now the feeling of being watched grew even more intense. When I got back to my senses, I ripped the note off of the door and threw it into the garden, whilst hastily rummaging for my keys in my jeans. As I pushed the key into the lock, the door swung open with ease. I needed some time to realize what that meant, and could only think about how Katy had scolded me earlier for not locking the door.

I should've listened to you Katy.

Fear was growing steadily inside of me, numbing all my senses. In that moment I was lacking common sense and entered slowly, holding my key like a knife. I crept through the corridor into the kitchen and turned the lights on. There I replaced my key with a butcher knife that I could barely hold because of my trembling hands. And so, I crept through every room, turning all the lights on and examining every corner of the house. The last room I didn't inspect was my bedroom, so I slowly opened the door and turned on the lights, holding out the butcher knife with one hand. No one was there, so I looked in my closet. Nothing was there either. After minutes of investigating the whole room I reckoned that nobody had entered my house. Full of relief, I jumped onto my bed and sighed out all the worries I've collected in the last few hours. It was good to lie there without worries, and even though it only lasted for a short amount of time, I still enjoyed it. After these few minutes of enjoyment, reality hit me again. I thought about how someone was writing these notes targeting us, maybe even just me, and about how I would have to explain the whole Jihyun-situation to Katy. I sighed again, but this time not out of relief. I laid in bed like that for a long time, eventually falling asleep.

The next morning, I woke up, drenched in sweat from the bad dream that had driven me crazy. In my dream, someone had chased me through my house with a baseball bat in their hands. They had destroyed everything in eyesight whilst trying to hit my head. I had locked myself in the bathroom, hoping that he'll eventually just go away. Just as he kicked open the door, I woke up. At first, I needed some time to fully understand what exactly was happening, and when I remembered the events of the night before, my whole body started to shake. It felt like someone was targeting me with these sticky notes, and how silly it was that something like this drove me nuts.

Some time went by like this, with me sitting in my bed in a near paralyzed state, but after I processed everything in detail, I told myself that all of this could not be true. I quickly got up and looked for my phone. After foraging through the whole house I found it in the kitchen, stuck between the fridge and the wall. How it got there? I'd like to know too. However, when I saw what time it was, I frowned loudly, for it was already 3 pm. It was Sunday, and Sundays were my days for homework. Sulking, I climbed up the stairs to my room again and dropped back into my bed, face forward. But I couldn't stay like that for long. My phone ringed loudly right next to my left ear. I jumped up and annoyingly took my phone and answered the call from my mom.

"Hi mom. How're you doing?"

"Oh, Milo! I'm doing just fine, your dad and I just arrived in New York. I'm afraid we'll have to stay here longer than expected. I'm sorry honey"

"No, it's okay. I'm quite comfortable like that. Katy's coming over almost every day to keep me company, like normal."

"Good. And how's school going?"

"Pretty good. Got an A on the math test, and Miss Bowing told me that I may be the best in my year."

"Oh, I'm so proud of you honey! When we're back we'll celebrate! But for now, I'll send you some more money, okay?"
