5:00am Monday morning:

*mmm* *mmm*

*mmm* *mmm*

*crash*

"Huh!" Dan's eyes shoot open when he hears the loud crash. He looks on the ground to see that his phone had fallen off the bedside table. His arm just barely reaches the phone, as he checks the time. 5:00 am. "Uhh why does school have to start so early." Dan whispers, but he notices that its hard to breath. His chest feels like its being crushed by a watermelon. He looks down to see a half awake Nathan still on his chest. The memories from last night are starting to return to his brain. Dan's train of thought was interrupted by an uncomfortable Nathan. Still on his back, he begin to rock from side to side. Dan's mind went blank, until he remembered that there was still half a bottle of room temperature formula on the bed somewhere. He looks around to see a small wet spot on the bed, where to bottle was resting. Nathan begins to cry once he sees the bottle. That was his why of saying "GIVE ME FOOD". Dan, who is now sitting up, feeeding Nathan, can't t stop thinking about how much he doesn't want to go to school. But his thoughts won't get the best of him today, it's his first day and he doesn't want to be late. So he lays down Nathan on his bed and props the bottle up with his puillow, and the curly haired boy begins to get dressed. Dan starts throwing clothes on the floor, as he tries to find his ripped jeans and favorite jumper.

"I swear I had them, I wore them yesterday!" but as he finished his sentence, Dan remembers that he has fallen asleep in the clothes from the night before. Instead of changing, he just sighs and checks the time. 5:25am, school doesn't start till 7:50. Dan lazily walks to the bathroom and puts his messy bed head under the faucet. As he pats around the sink, he gives up on looking for his shampoo, and settles for hand soap. The soft towel slowly dries his hair as he begins to walk back into his room. Dan looks at his curly fringe, and feels satisfied with the way he looks. By this time (5:45am) Nathan is fully awake and ready to be changed. Dan looks around the room and finds the stray packing box he put in his room the fist day they moved. It was full of baby outfits, the ones that were Dan's favorite. Conveniently enough, there were a few diapers and wipes in the box as well. He picks out some small blue jeans. Nathan squirmed the entire time while Dan was changing him, as always. Soon enough the two boys were ready for the day. Dan grabbed his small black book bag and headed down stairs. He looked around for his mum, but only found a note, similar to the on the day before.

Dan,

Got called in last night for work, my sister will come by and watch Nathan until I get home.

Luv ya lots

<3 Mum

As if on queue the buzzer went off. He walked to the panel by the door and buzzed in his aunt. When he gets back into the kitchen, he puts Nathan in his chair and turns on the hot water. As he grabbed the second bottle for Nathan, there was a knock at the door.

"Its open Stace!" the two of them have always been pretty close. He would always call her Aunt Stacey, but she would scold him and tell him to call her Stacey.

"How's it goin kid?" Stacey was closer to Dan's age then her sisters. Stacey turned 24 the month before her nephew was born.

"Fine I guess." he sighs as he shacks the freshly made bottle.

"Oh come on you, cheer up, I brought your favorite. Plain bagel, with lemon cream cheese!" she squeals as she hold up a white bag.  A smile appeared on the young mans face as he slowly grabbed the bag. Dan was to excited to say thank you, he had already shoved a big piece of the bagel in his mouth.

"So, Dani...el." At that moment Dan looked at Stacey with anger and sadness. No one called him Danny, except for his dad. He never fancied the name Danny, but when his dad would say Danny, he would feel so calm and comfortable. Both Dan and Stacey just pretended it never happened but it got Dan thinking about his dad.

"Uhh...so kid, you excited for your first day at your new school?" This was Stacey's why of dragging the attention from what she had just said.

"I mean, is anyone ever "excited"  for school?" he looks over to see that Stacey had gotten distracted by Nathan.

"When do you wanna leave for school? I can give you a ride if you'd like." but Dan didn't listen, he was to bus thinking about what would happen during the first day. Would he like his classes? Or the people in them? Would anyone try to talk to him?

"Earth to Daniel?" she waves her hand in front of his blank face.

"HUH! Uhh no ill just..Uhh walk thanks thought. Actually I'm gonna head out now, see you later I guess." but before he leaves he runs back to his room. Dan walked across the dark blue room and opens his closet. Under a pile of clothes was an old shoe box. He opened it up, and grabbed the hard covered sketch book from it. The book was filled with detailed drawings of everything he loved. His mum, Nathan..... his dad. No one knew Dan could or liked to draw, not even his father. After he checks his phone one more time (6:23am) Dan was out of his room and out the door in seconds.

It was another cold day in London, but to young Howell's luck, it was raining, which meant he would have to run to school. Although the school was only three blocks away his jumper, and jeans were pretty wet when he got to the gates, considering the rain was harder than usual. The gates are locked until 7:30am, meaning Dan could stand in the rain for another hour, or he could climb the gate and sneak in. Now Dan's never been the most athletic person, but he did like to break the rules...a lot. So Dan went out of sight of the security cameras and hopped the corner of the fence. He can feel the adrenaline running through his veins as he slides against the rear wall. It takes him about five minutes to find and open window. When he climbs in the window, he instantly knows what room he's in. The smell of paint and fresh canvases made Dan feel so calm. As the adrenaline starts to ware off Dan opens up his bag and pulls out his black sketch book. The earbuds in his pocket were then taken out, his favorite song blasting as he places them in his ears. He begins to draw a pair of bright blue eyes, he wasn't sure why or where the image came from, but the image of the bright pair of eyes was implanted in his head. His charcoal pencil glided across the paper as the small piece of charcoal stained his finger tips. When it came to the blue, Dan walked along the sporadically placed tables to a cupboard, labelled "CHALK PASTEL". The colours were endless, from indigo, magenta, crimson, you name it, they were all there. But Dan was looking for one colour, an icy blue. He looked up and down, then finally in the last row of blues he found it. His hand sneakily grabbed the chalk as he closed the cupboard door. Dan walked back through the tables and began to colour, and shade with the pastel. Just as he finished, he heard the front doors of the school open, he looked down at his phone to realise that it was already 7:15. He'd been there for almost an HOUR! Dan runs back over to the cupboard and quickly puts the pastel back. He looks at the still open window, then back at the door. If he goes out the window the other kids will see him but if he goes out the door the teachers might see him. Time was running out like Dans ideas. As he's about to go out the window, he turns around and books it to the door. He didn't stop running, not until he got to the nearest washroom, which to Dans luck, was the girls washroom.
