some of favorite tropes (my characters need to watch out honestly)

Okay so I was on Pinterest today (yes I know, I do that too much, thanks) when on my home page there popped up a blog post about whump-y situations for characters.

Now when I had my Tips Concerning LoTR Fanfiction book (speaking of: should I put them back up???) I had an entire chapter dedicated to word "whump" but if you are unaware concerning this particular trope it is best described as a genre that: "involves the physical pain or emotional distress of one character, who is cared for by another character."

So this blog post was quite extensive and had a lot of ideas for what seem to me to be quite heart wrenching situations to put your characters in. Because I found it to be an actually helpful list of situations, I'm including some of my favorites here, as I've noticed that a lot of times, fanfics on here lack a certain amount of tension that these kinds of situations provide.

I'm not saying anything exactly, but I'll be honest.... Legolas, Forven, and co. might need to watch out. Without further ado, though, here they are: (I knows it's long but stick with me)

So keep that in mind next time you have the urge to randomly injure one of your characters, because a lot of feeling can be created from that kind of situation. I recently (like a month ago) added an update to AITFM that was one whump-iest things I've written in a while.
