There once was a boy

Who was promised a toy

So he did all his chores

Though they were a bore

And went to bed early

With his pet dog named Shurley

He did all his work

With a sly little smirk

When the day finally came

For that boy to claim

His hard earned prize

He went to the store but did not recognize

The toy he had wanted and worked for so long

That he dreamt of and even thought of a song

So he went home alone and ran to his room

And thought that surely he was to be doomed

He remembered that over a long period of time

That he had thought the toy would be mine

So now he had nothing but the money in his hand

And when he got older he bought himself land

And thought of that toy he wanted so bad

But remembered how great it was to be dad

He remembered the saying and how it would mother would tell

"When one door closes another one opens"
