That book was once again open in front of Thomas’s slate gray eyes. He just stared at it. He never flipped the page or even blinked. I stared at him. I nearly fell out of my seat when he snapped his head towards me and stared back. An animalistic growl tumbled out of his mouth. He looked mad and snapped his book shut. The teacher glared at him with an annoyed look on her face. He slammed the book on his desk, stood up and left. Tyler Hawkins who always sat in front of him, and has been a good friend of Thomas’s for a long time picked up the red covered book and ran out of the room to return it to him. Mrs. Bailey walked to the phone and started calling security. Outside we heard a loud whimper. Tyler walked in. There was blood swarming out of his nose and running over his lips.
“He punched me.” Tyler said. Mrs. Bailey rushed over to him and walked him out of the room, probably to the nurse. As soon as she left everyone erupted in conversation. A bunch of the girls walked to the white board and started to draw pictures about who they thought was cute and ship names. I rolled my eyes and looked over to my friend Grace. Her eyes were filled with worry, she has had a huge crush on Tyler since the end of seventh grade, so for about a year and a half now. I stood up and left the room. I did not know where I was going but I needed to think. I decided the best place for privacy was the bathroom. I turned left down the hallway when I bumped into Thomas. My heart jumped up my throat and got stuck.
” Hey, T-thomas are you okay?”, I could feel blood rushing to my face. He glared at me for a moment then pushed into me making me stumble to the floor. He looked at me as if he was amused then started laughing. His laughter quickly turned to a harsh cough filling the cavities in my brain. He put his hand to his mouth until he finished coughing. As his coughing fit diminished my eyes were completely filled with worry as I silently begged him to go back to normal. He dropped his hand to his side and walked away. I was watching him leave and that's when I noticed a trail of blood leading behind him. My eyes fell on his hand as blood dripped off the tips of his fingers. I stood up with my knees wobbling beneath me. I walked to the bathroom. I walked to the last stall and started crying and crying until I eventually nodded off.
“ Em! Em! Are you okay?”, someone called to me from the world of consciousness. I slowly opened my eyes to join them. Grace was staring at me with her worry filled chocolate brown eyes. I nodded my head and placed my hands on my damp cheeks.
“ You have been asleep for almost all day!”, Grace said with her voice filled with panic,” We are going to miss the bus.” She grabbed my hand and pulled me up.
” I might just walk home, okay?”
“ Um.. sure, but are you okay?”
I swallowed the large lump in my throat, and nodded. I started to turn then ran straight into my last period teacher. The teacher whose class I missed although I was at school. I stared at Mr. Paulette's large pale green eyes.
“ We missed you in class today.” he continued to stare at me. My insides started to burn again. My stomach quenched into a tight knot. My mouth filled up with a sour taste. My stomach cheerleading around in my body. Vomit traveled up through my stomach. I leaned over clutching my stomach. Mr. Paulette took a step back just in time. I vomited all over the cement. I looked up to where he was standing and he looked back at me giving me a quite obvious fake smile. He turned and mumbled something about getting the custodian. As soon as he left I started to walk home. Questions filled my head. I started to worry about Thomas, yet again. He has been skipping school a lot recently. I only see him at school like once a week and he usually gets in detention whenever he is there. I took out my wallet and looked at a picture of Thomas and I right before this happened. He was much chubbier before. He has lost so much weight since then. I doubt that he has been eating at all. His brown hair covering his gray eyes, unlike my darker hair that covered my forehead with my bangs that I hid behind often. My dark skin blending in with my chocolate brown eyes. I looked back to the picture then looked up as I walked straight into Thomas’s mother. I almost bounced off her gelatinous stomach. She had obvious dark bags under her eyes. Her dark blue eyes looked pale and puffy.
