Jonah POV
It was our wedding day. Cyrus and I were putting our tuxedos on. Cyrus and I were going to be married and grow old together. We would never leave each other. That was going to be the best day of my life. The best day of our lives. If only it had been.
But it wasn't.
It was the worst day possible.
The day that I lost the love of my life, my partner in crime, my reason to live.
It was the day I lost Cyrus Goodman.
The last buttons were being fastened and the stray hairs combed to perfection. Our wedding was going to be the wed that everyone wanted. And everyone did want it. They wanted it until the moment the shots began.
Just as I began to say my vows, a gunshot rang through the church. Then another, and another. Everyone hid. They crouched down and shielded their faces with their bags. Some ran off. Cyrus was frozen. I was frozen. Like two blocks of ice we stood there. We stood there until one shot hit someone. The most important person at the wedding.
Cyrus.
I watched as he began to collapse. I snapped out of my shock and dragged him to the side. I found a spot where we were pretty covered and tried to stop the bleeding from Cyrus's chest. I sobbed uncontrollably as I fumbled for my phone. I could barely dial 911. I just had to keep telling Cyrus that everything was going to be okay. It was more for me than anything though.
Cyrus's breaths became shorter. I could tell he was suffering immensely. The pain got worse by the second. I told him to keep fighting. I can't loose him. I need him in my life.
The sirens finally became audible. I needed to get Cyrus to the exit. I wedged my arm beneath his neck and behind his knees and lifted him. Cyrus moaned in pain.
Just a few more seconds Cy. Hang on.
I was a few steps away from the door when I heard my name.
It was Cyrus.
"Jonahhh" Come on Cyrus. Stay with me.
I went as fast as I could through the doors. Down onto the sidewalk and straight towards the ambulance.
I heard my name again.
"Jonah, I love you so much. I can't wait until I see you again."
