(This is ridiculous. She doesn't look happy with all these lovely fabrics around her).
Bianca shakes her head. She never knows a woman who doesn't enjoy shopping. Margie hasn't have one smile at all since they begun the fitting for her dresses.
Margie asks, "What's the point? I don't have anywhere to go. These fancy dresses would be useless..."
Bianca says, "No, they won't. Looks good, feels good." "I don't have your curves, Baroness," mocks her sarcastically.
Bianca sighs. Margie is a grumpy lady. She says, "It's a secret. But I'm arranging a debut for you. As soon as I could get you introduced and get into Almack. I know it's kind of late, but better late than never."
Her lame joke only got a cold stare from her sister. Tough audience.
Bianca could wrap any man under her influences instantly. But she never has any good relationship with any lady before.
Well, it's hard to break the ice between them. Margie is a bitter woman at heart.
Margie finally asks, "A debut? For me?" "Yes, of course. Anything for my sister."
Finally a small smile on her lips. Her smile looks so stiff as if she has forgotten how to smile.
"Now we need to polish you up till you shine," says Bianca. Her sister nods. Finally she looks eager enough to do fitting for her dresses.
Three ballroom gowns made from silks, taffetas and velvet. Five morning gowns. Four evening gowns. A riding gown (although Margie doesn't even know how to ride a horse yet). And of course corsets, stockings, all the undergarments needed for a proper lady.
The modiste's eyes are shining with delight while showing more and more of her merchandises to the rich Baroness.
Tom waits impatiently in the waiting room. Waiting in a modiste's shop is a brand new experience for him. All those fancy fabrics lying around. It will cost him a lifetime wage to buy a dress here.
Finally Tom decides to wait outside the shop. The boredom in here is making him sleepy.
He takes out his notebook and writes about the sexy Baroness again. He has written everything he has learned so far. How she likes to eat stuffed eggs for breakfast. Or ham and cheese sandwich. Doesn't know how she do it. She eats a lot for a lady. And she still has a sexy body.
The sisters finally walk out of the shop together. Margie looks in good spirits right now.
A bullet is shot and misses Bianca's head by few inches. She falls to her knees, trembling out of fear. Margie has hidden herself behind a nearby wooden barrel.
The shooter has fled when Tom shoots at him. Tom quickly chases him. The assasin shoots again, misses Tom 'cause he leaps to his left. Tom shoots back and it hits the shooter's leg. He falls to the muddy ground.
Another gunshot is heard and kills the shooter on spot.
Tom stares around. But he couldn't see the second shooter. He cautiously approaches the dead shooter. And he pulls down the black cravat, which covers his face.
His unblinking gray eyes are staring him back with blank stare. Blond hair. Flat nose. Double chin. Reminded him of his boss. Although this man is far younger and more good looking than him.
Bianca has stood beside him. Staring down to the corpse on the ground. He was one of the men whom tried to flirt her in the last season. The fourth son of a viscount. Penniless nobleman. Why he wanted her dead? She did nothing wrong than politely refused his advances.
Tom puts a hand on her shaking shoulder. And he says, "Let's go home. You need a good rest." Bianca nods weakly.
Margie has walked out from behind the barrel.
There's a notebook lying on the street. It seems Tom has dropped it when he chased the assasin. She picks it up and reads it. She smiles widely. Now this is a treasure chest.
Margie walks to another direction, humming a merry tunes. She hasn't been so happy like this for years.
*****
Tom has explained everything to the runner downstairs. The Baroness is still too shocked to give any available info. The runner scratches his head. It's rare to have a nobleman as an assasin. In Bond street in broad daylight.
Bianca is still shivering although she is covered with few thick blankets right now.
Someone just tried to kill her. And she doesn't even know if she had insulted him or not. How many folks she has hurted in the past? How many men wanted her death? What if others would try to kill her too?
Suddenly all her money felt useless right now. She felt empty inside her heart. She had been living like a whore. Satisfying her lust and nothing more. Leaving the world as the ton's popular whore.
Bianca bites her lips. She will contact her lawyer. Make a will, leaving everything to her sister, Margareth Derwin.
Tom has just walked into her room. A bowl of hot milk in his hands. He orders, "Drink it up, Baroness. You will feel better immediately."
He is such a good guy. Bianca decides to add his name into her will too. A good man like him needs a decent wife. Someone who would really love him. Not like his late wife who dumped him for another man.
Yes, he told her about his late wife. They usually chatted a little after great sex.
Bianca drinks the milk obidiently. Tom puts the bowl on a night stand table next to the bed. And he hugs her while asking, "How do you feel, Baroness?"
She answers, "I need more milk." "I will fetch it right away," says him. "I need your milk," says her while rubbing in front of his pants. The traitor is bulging almost instantly.
Tom smiles while saying, "Let me lock the door first." Bianca lies back to her bed. A good intercourse would make her feel better. It always does the wonder for her.
Tomorrow she would contact her lawyer. Today she would enjoy her life. Celebrating it. With Tom.
