Today was the day where we passed through the grade we were in and move on to a new one, although everyday was school for us. The only day we didn’t go to school was Monday, although we are given time to do our homework on Saturday and Sunday, so we leave early. Monday was the only day we ever had to relax, but it was only a day of panic on those days. The check-up, we all went to the doctors for a check-up and the sick ones would go away. They usually were never seen again, ever. So the doctor gives me a full scale check-up for a 16 year old woman like me, and presses a button, I hear a ding and I am given a document of full health. I bow my head and give him a nice goodbye; I go home with a smile humming a tune of a very old song. Back when CDs were still popular, were only allowed to listen to old music. But someone smuggles new music like “Blood Moon, The Clichés, Milky Way and Tomfrey Maclinton” But I seem to like old bands better. I told my mom I was going to meet my friends at Sparrow Forest, which was close to the fence that had freedom on the other side that I never had. I walked through Sparrow Forest and walked to the fence, I lay in the field of milkweed and these gorgeous purple flowers. The fence seemed so intriguing, so inviting, so lonely and so isolated. Then I heard it, a short distance from me 20,000’s scream! A soldier was beating her for fun; I rush over to the scene and grab the soldier by the shoulders

“Let her go!” I screech he elbows my nose with a force that knocks me to the ground but I’m up quick, unfortunately temporarily blind from tears. I grab his gun and set it free from his grip then elbow him in the face “One wouldn’t want you to beat up his prisoners for fun, now would he?” I say calmly he stares at the camera and walks towards the fence, I throw his gun to his feet “don’t forget this.” I spit

“Thank you.” She says to me, she’s only 13 and I wouldn’t want my younger sister to be beaten for no reason like that. I nod and walk back to the fence noticing that the shifts are changing and the guards won’t be around for a few minutes “Wait!” She yells in a way that reminds me of my younger sister, I stop and turn as fast as I can to look at her, she takes me into Sparrow Forest. “Take this as a gift.” She hands me a book, I flip through the pages

“Empty, what am I supposed to do with this?” I ask her and she hands me a pen

“Write and draw.” She looked at me as though we were allowed to have pens. I gasp

“We’re not allowed pens.” I whisper terrified

“So?” she said lightly I shake my head and walk off pen in hand. As I get home I go to my desk and start writing, it felt better that no soldiers were watching me. In that hour I drew a beautiful rose, it took my breath away for I did not know I could draw such beautiful things. The art gave me passion; it gave me hope for better things in life. I hang the drawing up on my wall that night, just before I’d normally go to bed. But this night was different; I stayed up writing speeches and drawing. Most speeches were for my area, to rally and escape the clutches of One. If I could rally enough people we could stop One, he might even set us free! I had to do it, no matter what the risk I would set us free even if he was to kill me. I want to be free I want to taste the meat of the free animals , I want to use things that could be used as weapons without being in fear that I will be shot or shocked until my whole body is covered in scorch-marks, or my bones broken by hammers. I would not bow, even if he forces me to break. I will fight back and I will not die, at least not easily. If they used to say even a single person can change the world then that must be even truer. The date is March, 12th, 2120 and I will begin to stand up, I will begin operation; Free Bird. As operation Free Bird begins I will keep a log inside my new book, and hide inside a secret compartment inside my bed.
