"..do you want to have sex with me?"

2 months later..

Mer sat on the couch with her feet tucked under her. She watched cartoons bored out of her mind. Her only entertainment was the slow texts she received from Chase who was at work. Her head jerked towards the front hallway where a sweat drenched Shawn tossed his keys onto the table. She could hear One Dance by Drake blaring from his earphones. With the redness on his face she knew he had just returned from working out.

"Hey." He mumbled and she mumbled back the same when he passed through the living room to reach the stairs.

This was their new normal. This was how they interacted since that night nearly two months ago and she hated it. She missed her friend. The first week was unbearable. Shawn wouldn't speak to her let alone look at her. She tried apologizing constantly but he wouldn't have it. She was alone with no one to turn to.

Scott and Geoff had been supportive but she knew they were Shawn's friends. She didn't want to put them in an uncomfortable position where it would seem they were choosing sides. After much hesitation she confided in Chase who immediately took the blame but she reassured him the blame was theirs to share for Shawn's cold shoulder towards her.

Whenever being ignored became to much Chase would pick her up and take her out, which happened to be all the time. To her Shawn never seemed to notice her absence. He was always in the studio recording or out with Andrew promoting the lead single off his album. He didn't share the news with her. Mer only found out thanks to the teasing promos he posted on social media.

One week it had become so bad she hid away at Chase's place refusing to return until Geoff convinced her she was being dramatic and Shawn wanted her back in the house. If she had known this is what she was coming back to she might have stayed away longer.

Chase didn't mind having her over. He admitted waking up next to her was more than a pleasant experience for him. She even started going to work with him and helping out around the diner.

Frankly it'd been way to long since Shawn and her had a proper conversation. Mer had enough, her heart couldn't bear anymore. She missed her friend; her Shawn. She needed him and she was going to get him back. Overwhelmed with determination Mer pushed herself off the couch dashing up the stairs. She burst through his room door causing it to swing violently behind her.

"Mercy! What the hell?" Shawn jumped clutching a towel to his waist.

"I miss you." She heaved catching her breath.

"Me-"

"Shawn, I miss you, okay?" She repeated cutting him off. "I chose to fly across the country to be here because of how much I miss you, and after all these years to have you this close yet so far from me, it hurts! Especially after everything I went through without you there by my side and I know it's only my fault you're not speaking to me right now."

"Mer-" He tried to speak up but she continued talking over him.

"I wanted to be at that ceremony! I was honored to be your plus one. I wanted to support you! I'm sorry for being a crappy friend and being so careless. I'm sorry for giving you the idea that I didn't want to be there because I did. I wanted to be with you! I'm sorry for letting my infatuation with Chase distract me from the show. You didn't deserve that."

"Me-"

"Shawn, I watched your performance. I could feel your pain and I know it was my fault. I know I made you doubt whether I wanted to be there but hear me now when I say I wanted to be there. Shawn, I'm truly sorry and I-"
