"I'll wait for you..."

- MER's POV -

"What are you doing?" I panicked staring into the flash.

"Trying to capture all that beauty."

"No! No photos." I ordered reaching for his phone. He leaned out of my grasp running around the vinyl fixture.

"Knock it off." I managed with a poker face as I chased after him.

It was Saturday afternoon and for the first time in a while I was on a date. Most importantly I was having fun. The last time I enjoyed myself on a date was when I attended University back home.

Despite my ex-boyfriend being a total dick, he did know how to take a girl out on proper date. It was rare he would ever do so towards the end of our relationship.

Chase was no different apart from the dick aspect. He was a true gentleman, taking me for breakfast then a walk through the city to show me the sights.

He brought me to an old bank building called "The Last Bookstore" on Spring Street after finding out my love for classic records. Inside the building, walls were lined with nothing but books, some even made from them. In other areas books were stacked so intricately they formed overhead arches. I fell in love at first breath.

The store had everything from a labyrinth on the top floor to a coffee cafe and of course vinyl records. I was browsing through the vast collections when I noticed he was taking photos of me. I gripped the spaghetti strap of clutch to my shoulder sprinting through the store's aisles in pursuit of him.

I shrieked at the feeling of someone tugging my arm into a secluded aisle from behind. I crashed into his chest tripping over my own feet causing a stack of volumes to tumble. His arm securely wrapped around my waist was the only thing holding me steady and keeping me from falling. His hand raised my chin to meet his eyes as we laughed about yet another mess we caused by colliding.

"Sorry about the mess." I snickered.

"Don't be beautiful." I smiled into his eyes resting my arms around his neck.

His eyes flashed to my lips as his thumb caressed from my chin to jawline. Slowly his head bowed to establish a relationship between his lips and my own. My eyelids fluttered closed until an employee disrupted the moment.

"Excuse me, I'm going to have to ask that you leave for-"

"Of course. Our apologies." Chase smiled taking my hand, he hurriedly led the way out the store. We trotted down the sidewalk rocking into each other's side. "On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate today with me aside from getting kicked out?" He asked.

"A solid 7." I answered after we crossed the street.

"A 7? Hm, I wasn't expecting that but I was hoping for a number close to 10." My mouth fell agape faking shock.

"You had that much confidence in a date so simple?"

"It's the little things that truly matter Mer." He said kissing my knuckles. "Yes, this date is simple but it couldn't be more perfect. In just one day I learned you possess a crude sense of humor, you have a serious obsession with all things vintage and you're an amazing friend."

"Friend? I'm sorry that was incredibly nice but you just ruined it by friend zoning me on our first date. You're a cruel man." I scoffed pulling my clutch's strap higher on my shoulder.

"Wow." He said dragging the word. "I'm curious now. Did you completely miss it when I tried to kiss you about 5 minutes ago? I'd go back to try again but we probably shouldn't show our faces so soon." He said standing in the middle of sidewalk pointing back at the way to the bookstore. I held my forehead in my hand.
