"I'm in love with Shawn."

Shawn emptied the contents of his knapsack into his locker. The weekend was knocking and he had no intentions of wasting it on school work, especially with the news he had received last month. He had some affairs to get in order that surely didn't require a calculus textbook.

Swinging the lightened bag over his shoulder, he pushed his sunglasses back into his hair as he caught a glimpse of the girl across the hall. He leaned against his locker in attempt to disguise that he was watching her and smiled to himself.

There was something about the way her kinky curls floated around her shoulders as her head moved in laughter. Something about how even though the sun was shining bright through the school windows causing other kids in the hall to shield themselves using hands and textbooks, she was completely un-phased.

The sun rays highlighted her face, and Shawn would swear she was a lost beam of sunshine in human form. She stood against her own locker across the hall in a small huddle of classmates. Shawn was captivated by her coffee colored skin and the way she could smile with only her eyes as she spoke. He couldn't help but dream of flying towards the sun each time he saw her.

"And you my man are drooling." Shawn jumped hitting his head on the lockers startled at the closeness of another's presence. It was only Brian, his childhood friend. Brian chuckled raising his shirt in attempt to wipe the corner of Shawn's mouth. "Here, let me get that."

"Dude, not cool, knock it off." Shawn growled pushing him away while rubbing a sore spot.

He looked over his shoulder to see if she had heard their loud encounter and to his relief she hadn't. Her attention was dedicated to her phone as she shut her locker with her friend Sage nagging in her ear. When she raised her head they instantly made eye contact and she smiled at him causing Shawn's face to turn crimson.

He didn't want her thinking that he had been staring the whole time. His mind scrambled trying to think of what to do but nothing came. Luckily, she waved her fingers at him saving his brain from the strain of overthinking and he gave a slight wave back. His confidence was nonexistent when it came to her and it showed. Soon she started to make her way over to him with Sage on her arm.

"Hey Brian." She smiled. "Shawn!" She beamed hugging his neck. Shawn's arms instinctively wrapped around her small waist pulling her in.

"Mer." He greeted with a warm smile.

"Seriously please just start dating already." Sage groaned nuzzling into Brian's side. Mer pulled away from Shawn allowing her arm to snake around his waist as his arm moved up to her shoulders.

"I've been saying that for the past 3 years babe." Brian laughed kissing Sage's head.

"We're just friends." Shawn and Mercy said rolling their eyes at their best friends.

Brian and Sage never ceased in teasing them about becoming a couple. They so badly wanted to be seen as power couples together.

"For now. Come on, you can't tell us that you guys don't feel something for each other! We've been bearing witness to the growing love since the day we introduced you." Sage said in a complaining tone.
