Chapter 18: Liz Prince

It’s seven o’clock and I am just doing some finishing touches on my looks. I decided to go preppy casual today with a white button down dress shirt underneath a plaid black and red sweater vest and navy blue jeans with my ankle boots.

I decided to put my blonde hair in big wavy curls. As for my makeup, I went with an au naturale look with clear lip gloss and just eyeliner and mascara around the eyes.

Why am I feeling so giddy all of a sudden? It’s just a simple date with a guy. Like geez, it’s not like I’m meeting the Pope or something. It’s almost like a blind date but with someone that I have had a conversation with.

So, I guess the closest I can describe this situation is a blind date with your cyber boyfriend. Ha! Shouldn’t that sound a bit creepy? Well, yeah I guess if I met him through a chat room and agreed to meet up with him after exchanging photos over the net and having long instant messaging hours on the computer. There is just this comforting feeling that I had made the right decision on agreeing to go on a date with him.

When I was done, I left my room after I applied my perfume and gathered my purse with my essentials in it. I found Sophie lounging on the couch watching some awards ceremony for celebrities for their TV acting achievements. When she caught sight of me she whistled as she eyed my attire from head to toe.

“You’re going on your first date with a Media successor and you’re dressed like that?” Sophie said cocking one perfectly plucked eyebrow towards her hairline.  I looked down at my attire. I didn’t see anything bad about what I’m wearing.

“He told me to dress casual. You’re lucky I didn’t decide on a loose fitting sweater and yoga pants instead of what I’m wearing” I pointed out. She just shook her head.

“Whatever. Do you know where he’s taking you?” she asked; I shook my head

“Nope, he just told me to dress casual and a Town Car will pick me up at 7:30 tonight” she got up from the couch to look out the balcony sliding doors then turned back to me

“Okay. Well, you have about two minutes to get downstairs. The Town Car just pulled up. Text me once you get to your destination and have fun” she said as she ushered me out of our apartment door. Soon enough I will be on my way to my date with Nate Ashburn, I thought.

When I got to the Town Car, the chauffer had the back passenger door opened already for me to get in. The driver just gave me a small smile and a bow of his head in greeting before shutting the door once I was fully in the backseat.

I noticed that we were heading towards downtown and when we got to a strip of restaurants, I was getting anxious to find out where we’re going to dine. But when we passed all the restaurants, the driver kept on driving.

“Um, do you mind telling me where we’re going?” I asked meekly.
