"It's so cold." Meadow said as she scooted close to Ralph.
"Sorry I'm trying my best to get this fire going." Keanu said.
I rubbed my arms, and my teeth clattered together.
"It's almost seven." I said gesturing for him to hurry up.
"Ah here we go!" Keanu said as he threw in some balls of newspaper to the pit of fire he created.
Everyone leaned towards the fire.
"Now we can eat." Corey said pulling out the hot dogs.
He stuck them on the metal prongs we bought and handed them to everyone but River, and I.
I pulled out sodas, and stuff for Riv and I to share.
I handed the sodas around and gave River a fork.
"Thanks Blue." he said, as I gazed into his bright blue eyes.
I looked down cause I realized I was staring.
"You say my name a lot after a scentence." I said as I took a bit of my salad and looked back at him.
"Well yeah its cool." He said as he took a bite as well.
I laughed/blushed and turned to the fire.
"So why River." I said crossing my jaw.
I looked over my shoulder.
"Your name why did they name you River." I said looking at him.
He chuckled.
"So my parents loved the book Siddhartha, and they read it all the time, and they believed the River in the story had all the answers."
"So here I am." He said laughing.
"Thats neat." I said.
"They were total hippies, and still are." He said sipping his soda.
"How bout you?" He said wiping his mouth.
"Oh nothing cool like that." I said.
"My parents were very close with my grandmother, my moms mom."
"My grandma loved gardening and the flower, Bluebell so they were always in her back yard."
I sat up, so I didn't have to look over my shoulder.
"Anyways, my mom was about two months pregnant when my grandmother passed away, and eventually after a while when they were ready, they were gonna sold her house."
I looked down and smiled.
"So when they got there, the house had been completely taken over by the flower, bluebell."
"It was up the walls, wrapped over the gate, took over the garden, and everything."
I looked back at him.
"And they were set on my name..after her." I said.
"Thats way better than my name." He said.
I laughed and drank my soda.
We looked in each others eyes and I wanted to kiss him so bad.
I VERY slowly started leaning in.
Like as slow as a slug.
"Guys, we are going to bed." Meadow said as she stuck her head in between us.
I jolted away.
"Oh-okay." I said.
"I'm not tired..are you?" River said.
"No its seven right." I said pulling out my phone.
"Holy shit!" I said.
"Its ten! That felt like five minutes." I said laughing.
"Jeez." River said.
He got up, and put his hand out.
I grabbed it and he pulled me up.
I smiled at him, and he walked me to my tent.
I slid in and turned to him.
"Hey-"
He looked at me and waited.
"Wanna come in and hang out for a bit-I mean I'm not tired so-"
"yeah, sure." He said.
"I'll get my guitar." He said.
"Okay, yeah." I said as he walked away.
I shoved my clothes to the side of my tent, and laid out my blankets and pillows.
He walked in.
He zipped the tent up behind him.
He pulled out his guitar and sat down.
I laid on my side, and put my hand on my cheek, leaving my elbow on the ground holding my head up.
He adjusted the strings.
"Whats your favorite song." he said.
"Oh uh-sunflower, by rex orange county." I said.
"Never heard of it." He said.
"What!" I said blinking a few times.
"Sing it." He said.
"No, uh-"
"C'mon its just you and me." He said curving his lip down ward.
"Alright fine."
"But we never speak of this." i said.
"..So won't you stay for a moment so I can say I, I need you so cause right now you know, that nothing is new and I'm obsessed with you then I fell to the ground, and you smiled at me and saidd...I don't want to see you crying, mhmm, you dont have to feel this emptiness. She said I love you til the day I diee.." I sang smoothly and sweet.
"Thats all I know." I said tucking my hair behind my ear, and blushing deeply.
"I know the rest." He said.
"What." I said confused.
"I just wanted to hear you sing..and it was amazing." He said.
"Its my favorite song too." He said.
"Okay, okay your very sneaky." i said laughing.
"Oh am I." He said laughing.
"Mhm."
He put his guitar down, and laid on his side, facing me but his arm was down, not holding his head, just his body.
I looked at him and smiled.
"That was really good."
"River I really-"
"No I'm not kidding, and don't say oh I didn't even try..or, or I sound horrible." He said.
"Cause that was amazing."
He made me blush very hard, and my palms started to sweat a bit.
"No not amazing, unthinkable." he said as his face turned the slightest bit pink.
I looked in his eyes, and lost track of everything.
I could feel his hand moving the hair that had fallen towards my face, back behind my ear.
He moved his hand under my chin and gently pulled me towards him.
I closed my eyes and he pushed our lips together.
Just a kiss, a harmless kiss, changed everything. It was so short and sweet. He was very gentle.
"I was gonna say," I looked in his eyes, as my forehead rested against his.
"River I really like you." I said smiling.
"I really like you too, Blue." He said.
He rested his head on my neck/chest.
I twirled his hair and started drifting off to sleep.
"Goodnight Blue." I heard him faintly whisper from outside the tent.
I heard footsteps go off in the distance, and I curled my blanket over me.
"Goodnight Riv."
